Was great, now garbage.

I’ve been using this app on and off for years and I’ve been using it more recently for the fonts and textures. I have limited storage space since I download and create multiple images per day for my online store and so this app was offloaded for a little bit of time. I redownloaded it right now and now they’ve changed so much stuff, it’s similar to other basic apps; they don’t have any of the same fonts (I kept this app because it used to have CLEANWORK font) and they also changed the textures (I used about 3 different ones to keep my images cohesive but now those have all changed). What also frustrates me is the watermark they’ve added (you have the option to upgrade or watch a video); I used to like this app a lot and it was a 5 star app before but now it seems I’m in the market to find myself a new one unless there is a way I can use a previous version of this one.

Update version ruined (what used to be free great) collage app

This update in my opinion truly ruin what use to be a very good free basic app ( with a variety of basic style templates) , you had the option to upgrade . I used the basic style templates- 4 squares, double vertical or horizontal, the 3 photos.
The previous version had six pages of multipliable style layouts free & pay to unlock templates.
Now with this update I only have a selection of 10 templates & 3 are locked.
Also in the previous version I was able to use the double photos both vertical & horizontal option to choose from. Now in this update version only the horizontal double photos style is available. The other free templates are the 4 squares, 2 different three photo styles with a vertical on the left side & 2 squares on the right or 2 squares on the left & the vertical on the right, 2 different four photos & a 9 square template.
Now I don’t know if one upgrade to the premium version if more free & paid templates are available or just those 3 that are locked.
I hope the developers will read and consider the 1 stars reviews and comments and make this a great free app with a large selection of free templates.

This was a good app

You, know this was an amazing app and software for making collages,like it used to be rough around the edges but now with this new update they made it look a lot better more professional which was a nice thing to have, but with that also came them adding 20x more ads than there used to be which is just great editing takes forever now because you’ll quickly be trying to throw something together and then you get interrupted mid editing. They additionally now want $50 a month for there premium, mind you I never bought they’re premium prior to it being $50 I did consider it but but $50 is not an appealing amount of money for hardly anything at all they ruined something that was fun to use for both premium and non premium users now it’s just unfair and hard to use for non-premium users strictly because of the ads that are constantly in you’re face it’s a joke, the app still works of course and can be used but seriously why do something so unnecessary,I have no idea when they updated it, but it must have been recently considering that I had just used the app last week. I just boot it up right now and I’m not gonna lie I was excited to see it get an update it was looking very formal and classy but then I was disappointed because I wasn’t even 45 seconds into editing and I got an ad like seriously they way I keep bringing up and complaining about the ads is they way the pop-up in the app. It’s disappointing to say the least and I expected better from the creators of the app. I’m not saying they shouldn’t make money and that there should be no advertising whatsoever but they really need to work on the way they are doing things currently!

We understand you would like the app to be both free and without ads, but we need some money to pay our team and keep improving the app. We're doing our best to make Collageable’s user experience more enjoyable and less ad-annoying and appreciate your patience! If you don't want to see ads, you can consider signing up for Premium. By the way, it's not $50 a month. It's $35.99 a year. Besides, there are different subscription options available in the app, including weekly, monthly and annual, as well as different special offers, so you can choose the option that you are most comfortable with. Upgrade has ruined what was a great app

Used the free version for years, and it was a fantastic user friendly app. Now it has a new horrible interface. Can’t view grid templates in advance anymore, and forced to watch gaming adds and app advertising just to remove a watermark. Takes so much longer to produce a grid picture now. The changes have made it worse. Off to find a new app that does photo grids without the hassle or pressure to upgrade to an expensive premium.

App changed for the worse

I used to use this app to combine images in the templates. They have changed the whole design so you can’t even chose templates now.

They’ve also changed it so if you manage to get a few images in the layout you want, it saves it with their logo over the top, making it completely unusable, essentially there are no free services now. I’m not going to pay for it, because I don’t want to add my images into their designs, I wanted a simple app to be able to easily combine photos.

There are a million apps out there that do what this is offering, don’t waste your money on this one.

Absolute garbage app due entirely to new update

So this app initially was a simple app that allowed you a variety of different ways to make collages with different frames and layouts . All of it relatively easy to use while also still allowing freedom of creation without the hassle . This was until the most recent update .
This most recent update completely overhauled the app changing it into a garbage fire .
It was clearly redesigned to push the preset collages but those are railroads with no actual creative freedom . It got rid of the frames and put many of them behind a paywall . The app itself is now a completely different app that has lost the very features that drew people to it , accessibility and freedom of creation . Without that the app has nothing original and is just offering features you can find on any basic photoediting app or website for free. None of these features the app is pushing are even worth using . Whoever’s idea it was to do this new update should be fired because this is not the same app.

Costs not clear before downloading

I appreciate that developers need to earn a living and there is no reason why we should expect sophisticated apps to be free of charge. However, I object to those costs not being made clear before downloading and opening the app. That seems disingenuous to me. There is no way I would have downloaded it had I known it would cost me £4.99 a week. Sorry, but I have deleted it.
I received a developer response to this review advising that there are also weekly and monthly subscription options which are cheaper and that the app can be used free without premium features. This is true but misses my point. The app is advertised on the strength of the premium features. Without them its functions are quite basic. But the subscription costs are not made clear until the app is downloaded and the basic functions are continually interrupted by hard sell of the premium options. In my view the costs should be up front. In a shop you don’t pick an item and find out how much it costs when you get to the checkout.

Not precise or intuitive

This app works if your photos are centered and sized well before dropping them into collage frames. The frame and image controls can be finicky. Photos rotate when you pinch to reframe and resize them and there doesn’t seem to be a way to override this. Trying to adjust the frames is even worse because it won’t prioritize the center of the image, so the center of your pictures slide out of frame, end up oddly skewed and you have to readjust the photo size and position again. Back and forth back and forth between adjustment controls. Pre-cropping images before adding them to the collage gives you better results, but I don’t appreciate having my time wasted, guessing the aspect ratio of each frame before I even begin to use this app. If you want something fast and rough, it works. I’d prefer more precise controls though.

Not flexible or intuitive

This app only works well if your photos are framed and sized perfectly before dropping them into collage frames. Unlike every other app that lets you drag and pinch photos to resize and reframe them, this app just lets you drag its predetermined frames, which prioritize the edges of photos, never the center. You’ll attempt in vain to try to get photos sized and positioned well, and the app will fight you no matter how precise you try to be. I don’t appreciate having my time wasted, being forced to precrop photos and to guess what the aspect ratio of each frame is before I even begin to use this app. Developers take note: Just let users recenter and scale each photo WITHIN each frame space, which is far more intuitive and flexible for different compositions.

Wish it was better than it is

Lots of improvement that could be made considering its not free!! Needs to be:
Easier to swap photos and swap which place they are in collage. Enable Save within app to then be able to do further edits or go back and change photos in previous collages. So to easily create a set of collages without having to pre plan which photos in the collages. Enable to switch between collage types to allow best feature if photo. Ability to crop photos within the collage. Able to zoom in to see which photo to pick for collage. Adding text, not intuitive or easy function to change type. I have only used for 5 collages and this is what I can see just doing basic collages without effects or editing. I’m sure there are apps with better basic for the price I paid. I feel I need to pay more to get more functionality which I’m not confident to waste my money if can’t get easy function in the entry feature.

Hello, thank you for your extensive feedback. You can actually use the app for free unless you want to get access to the Premium features. There's a great choice of collage layouts, templates, stickers and other editing features available in the basic version. To change the photo that's already in the cell you just need to tap the cell and then you choose a new photo for this cell. And you can also crop the photo in the cell with the pinch gesture. Simly zoom in/out with two figures to adjust the picture's position. Same goes for the text. It also can be zoomed in/out the same way.
