  • App does not recognise the camera model

    Bought the camera through Kia and was installed by them. So far so good. Then tried to connect through the App. No matter what I did it would not connect. I reformatted the sd car, did a reset, deleted app and downloaded again. No joy. Contacted Nextbase and followed instructions from an agent whilst in the car, still no joy. I said was there a problem with the app which he said that was not possible.
    I was told to go back to my Kia dealership as it was their problem. Kia said it was Nextbase. Ping pong moment.
    Anyway Kia sent a replacement and today it was fitted. The service engineer said it was now ok as he was able to connect through the app which he showed me and was working and all that needed to be done was for him to connect my phone.
    We downloaded the app and did what was necessary and Lo and behold. IT DID NOT WORK.
    The app kept showing a different camera model and there was no way to put in my model. The engineer thought it might be because my phone is a 15. So we tried my husband who has an 8. Still no joy after 2 and a half hours.
    Conclusion. THE APP DOES NOT WORK as advertised.
    The engineer is in the process of contacting Nextbase because this needs to be sorted out for any future installation by the dealership.
    Come on Nextbase sort it out.

  • Use to work but not anymore.

    Not buying another Nextbase camera when they stop supporting it making it useless. Can’t access my camera by wifi anymore.
  • Needs revisions

    Very disappointed with the app, which keeps redirecting me to my iPhone settings (cam is NextBase 380GW).
    The biggest issues are that:
    —-The cam does not always connect to wifi by itself even though I have all the right settings on for auto connect, so I have to make sure every time, before I start driving.
    —-The other thing that’s ridiculous is that if I want to access a video it stops recording (which is fine) BUT there is NO WAY after that to start recording again ( a simple “REC” button would suffice!) and I have to turn the car off and on again all over so the cam/app starts recording again. And of course check it connected!
    Such basic features! How have they not been fixed? This is a pretty expensive camera compared to others!

  • If at first you don’t succeed

    If at first you don’t succeed in connecting the app to the Nextbase camera then contact support. I have a Nextbase 380GWX Dashcam and I made several attempts to connect the Camviewer app to the cam. I even tried using My Nextbase app but that didn’t work either. In frustration I wrote a bad review on the My Nextbase app giving it 1 star. Following this Nextbase Support contacted me and told me that the My Nextbase doesn’t support the 380GWX. They then talked me through the setup procedure using Camviewer and everything is now working fine.

  • If you're having connection issues, update the firmware

    I bought this dash cam for, like many others, the ability to connect via WIFI to view and download clips. But, also like many others, I have experienced connection issues where I'd connect to the WIFI but the app didn't recognise it and kept diverting me to the connection settings.

    However, using a little common sense, I checked the Nextbase website and found a firmware update. After following the instructions, the cam operates perfectly now.

    A few tips:
    • Before using an SD card to install the upgrade, you should format the card in the cam itself. I tried to format the card twice via Windows but just kept getting an, "Invalid card..." error. After formatting the card in the cam, transferring the files, and restarting the device, it worked perfectly.
    • If you're worried about losing any previously stored footage, you can use a new/different SD card. Alternatively, copy the contents of the existing card to a PC, format the card, perform the upgrade, then transfer them back afterwards.
    • During the upgrade, all cam settings will be reset back to default so make sure to set them back after.

    Now I have the upgraded firmware installed, I'm very happy with the cam and would recommend. However, I'm aware there's a v2 series out there so would probably opt for one of those (including the new app).

  • Useless

    I just got my dash cam and this app is completely useless I can’t even connect to my dash cam at all.
  • Waste of time

    Had this app on my phone for about 2 minutes which was long enough to realise it was pointless.
    Did everything asked and connected the dash cam to my phone, dash cam says I’m connected to my phone but my phones says no, redirects me to the settings in my phone so after going round in circles three times going into my phone settings to indeed see the dash cam listed as a connected device for the dash cam app to tell me I’m not I decided to delete the app, I’ve had the dash cam for about 5 years and I’ve been thinking of upgrading to a better more upmarket next base dash cam but this experience has made me think more about trying a different company so I’ll be YouTubing and googling a lot of dash cam companies and read lots of reviews to see which dash cam I should purchase next, it’s a shame because the actual product is very easy to set up and use but like most people I want what I’ve paid for and sending captured video to my phone is what I’ve paid for but unfortunately am unable to achieve like many other reviewers have mentioned.

  • Good camera , rubbish app

    As someone who drives in London every day a dash cam has become essential. I bought a Nextbase (312gw) for 2 reasons , firstly the power lead plugs into the mount rather than the camera which is useful. Secondly the WiFi capability. I wrongly assumed that ‘WiFi’ meant I could connect the device to my home WiFi network and download footage directly to my laptop. After purchasing the camera I realised I got it wrong you have to use an app to download the footage , ok I thought, my mistake I should have done my homework. I download the app, what a waste of time, you have to manually connect every time you want to connect and then it just chucks loads of footage onto your phone without being asked . Needless to say I have deleted the app and just view footage by shoving the sd card into my laptop which is so much easier. I would buy another Nextbase but would avoid the WiFi models , also the picture was pretty poor until I purchased an polarising lens (another £14) now it works great and I am sort of happy ....

  • What have you done in this latest update

    Before this latest update my 512 connected via WiFi and worked a treat I could download files and view them with out any issues.
    Since the update my iPhone 11 Pro can see the WiFi off the 512 and connect with out any issues. The issue is the app when ever I try to connect to the 512 it constantly send me to the iPhone setting page to connect to the WiFi. When you review these setting they show your connected to the 512 WiFi.
    So unless you just want to review you WiFi setting every time you try to connect to the dash cam this APP is now totally useless. You will go around in circles from try to connect to been sent to check WiFi settings.
    Developers please sort it out this was a useful app as it saved having to remove it from the car and connecting it to a PC.

When you say 'before this latest update' do you mean the iOS update? The Cam Viewer update? The firmware on the Dash Cam update? What version of iOS are you on? If you're not on iOS 13.3 please update this as they've included many connectivity improvements. What are your location settings set to both on the phone and the Cam Viewer App individual location settings?   • One step forward, one step back

    So.... the iOS Wi-fi connection issues seem almost fixed in the latest update, but its 50/50 whether the app will recognise the connection to my 312GW. If it doesn’t recognise it, I have to fully reboot my phone before it will connect. Still better than the previous issue where the camera said the Wi-fi is connected but the app says no 100% of the time.

    Unfortunately, they’ve now broken the in app video editor, I can’t drag the end of clip marker right, only left, so it’s basically useless unless the section I want is right at the start of the clip. So I now have to save the clip from the camera, then save the clip from the app to the phone, then use a 3rd party editor.

    Still not good enough...
