We've made a couple of refinements as teachers begin to use the app in the classroom: 1. We've changed the term 'Units' to 'Ones' to marry up with the new curriculum requirements; 2. On the Singapore Bar, if the numbers had too large a difference, it could result in one of the numbers being unreadable. We've sorted that... Well actually, Doug, our amazing developer sorted it! But he is good like that!!

Description of I See Addition and Subtraction

Addition and subtraction calculations are made visual by I See Maths + -. It allows educators to create a range of images that help children to understand key calculation concepts. The Singapore Bar feature allows the 'part-part-whole' structure to be made visible; calculations can be shown on 10-frames and the 100-square; column + and - can be modelled step-by-step. The images can also be adapted to create meaningful questions. This makes I See Maths + - an invaluable teaching tool.

  • Excellent resource

    I run a maths intervention and use Singapore bar models and Base 10, which really help the children see the calculations. I'll be able to use is with larger groups as well as introduce it to teachers throughout the school.

    I'd like to see an option to step back through calculations and the ability to always hide answers before you work through the question.

  • What a fantastic teaching and learning tool!!!!!!!!

    A maths app that pictorially shows in real time how numbers add on or subtract. Subitising to improve manipulation and number bond knowledge. Singapore bar to look at visual values, base 10 to show those 5 and 10s clearly, htu to show carrying across visually... It's a superb teaching and learning tool. The children who get to use and see this app are privileged.
