  • The best in the business!

I got tired of inaccurate forecasts. I reached the point of having two weather apps on my phone just to try and average out a forecast. One app says it’s gonna be 8° and fine. Another app says it’s gonna be 10° and rainy in five minutes. Often neither was right. Ironically, both apps say they source their data from the BOM. So I thought, why not ditch those two and get the official BOM Weather app. I haven’t looked back. The layout is superb. The map is great resolution with fantastic pinch in and out zoom. It even comes with a nice big pause button. Furthermore, it’s a free app and there are no pop-up ads. Thank you BOM for giving us this gem.

  • Quite good but could be improved.

The general layout of the forecast is good and the hourly information well set out. However hourly rainfall is confusing. There is a row which says, for example, “Rain 50% chance of at least” and the a row which can say 0mm in the hourly column. That to me means no rain. A whole day can have hourly 0mm amounts, but the forecast might say 1mm of daily rain. Perhaps replace 0mm with “drizzle” or some non zero amount. Perhaps some more though could go into how better to describe the chance of a certain amount of rain in every hour?

The radar rain map is very good. Could the Himawari satellite images for the previous few hours be presented in the same way as the radar map please?

  • Generally ok app, but three things need improvement

Generally ok app, but three things need improvement:

Sometimes the app shows “Rain” for periods of a day (under “Today” or “Tomorrow”) and under the “Rain” section shows “chance of at least 0mm”. In my book that means there is no rain and therefore the rain icon under “Today” or “Tomorrow” shouldn’t be shown.
It’s useful to sometimes show the weather as it was before now, maybe even up to yesterday or a week ago. However, this app just discards everything that is before “now”.
In the past decades the Australian government has been hammering home the message of UV protection. While the app shows a “Max UV Index” it would be for more valuable to know not only when that hits, but also at what the UV index is at what times of the day – similar to temperature, rain, wind etc.

  • Fantastic weather app but…

Brilliant app, all the data is nicely displayed and easy to navigate. Only thing is the rain radar and probability isn’t very advanced. I’ve been using (and trusting) B.O.M for everything but.

Ended up having to use a different app for rain which is insanely more accurate at predictions and probability. The major winning feature is that it will send you a notification warning you of incoming rain anywhere from 15-45 ahead of your current location. And it will accurately forecast alerts warning you of potential rain from even the lightest patchy drizzle to downpour.( It’s saved our washing so many times)

So…. If you wanna implement something like that into the B.O.M that’d be absolutely fantastic 😁

  • Permission required

Some time back in one of the many updates this issue was supposedly rectified. Not so on my two mini4 ipads. This is a constant ongoing problem. I can be using the app, look at weather in a family member’s location or such, go back to my location, and up there for all to see…permission required, Information unavailable. Permission has never been denied. Slide down through the listed localities click on mine and yes hello there is the weather for all to see. No request for permission. My ipads rely on wifi. I have no issues with other apps or with in particular the other weather apps. Surely I am not the only person still encountering this problem.

  • Handy weather info

It's really nice to be able to cycle through the "confidence level" of the rain predictions. Most times I just want to know what's likely to happen, but sometimes when you make plans you need to know if there's any chance at all of rain.
  • Review from England

Clear , crisp layout for easy use so much better
  • This app is the best!

It gives accurate and detailed information about the weather and it is almost always correct. Recently it has gotten better with the addition of a “Past” page which gives information about the recent weather. You can select any location anywhere in Australia and change it easily. It will give you notifications about severe weather alerts and things like that which you need to know. Another thing that I liked was the rain radar going forward in time as well as backward.

Note to the developers: can you also add the ability to have the traditional rain percentage as well as the “75% chance of less than 1 mm, 50% chance of 3mm, 25% chance 4mm” thing?

  • Tracking for Severe Thunderstorms

Flash floods can be a big problem in the Australia’s Northern Territory and Uluru gets the spectacular lightning storms and same does in Alice Springs and be safe to watch at the Ayers Rock Resort village in Yulara and so many trees are attracted to lightning strikes. And do not swim or boating in the water in places of Australia when the water conducts electricity when lightning strikes. Lightning is one of the most powerful forces of nature. I love watching lightning storms.

  • Great!

Pro tip: make sure you have “precise location“ turned on or the widget won’t work properly. Otherwise great!

    Developer Response

Thanks for your rating and feedback on the widget release. At this stage the widgets are set to show the weather mood, so after sunset you should be seeing darker backgrounds (unless you have widgets set for locations or timezones that are behind yours).
