  • Very useful for telescope collimation

Aligning mirrors on a Newtonian telescope can be tricky. Aligning the secondary mirror with the focuser is even harder without using an expensive concentric circle eyepiece, which I do not own. Using a collimation cap, I took a photo using my phone and used this app to check using the protractor tool - it’s easy to centre the overlay so the edge meets the focuser tube, then zoom in to check if the secondary is a) centred and b) circular. Easy!

  • Measures pixels between two points in an image

This exactly what I needed to measure the distance between two isobars on a weather map. Having the angle between the two points is neat.
One possible improvement would be to have a measure tool that returns distance (and angle) instead of reading off a ruler.
  • ????

I have no idea what the units of measurement are. Pixels? Mm? Certainly not cm or inches, which is what I was looking for. I wouldn’t have even thought to rate this if it hadn’t left me with such confusion. Any sort of labels would’ve changed this to no review, or even a four star. But I’m just confused. Which is disappointing.

At least you can upload images of your actually screen, which is more than I can say for the last app I tried. That’s keeping this from a one star.

  • Guide line for beading pattern etc

Just what I’ve been looking for. I screenshot beading patterns to follow and tried using the one in Edit on the iPad but the ruler kept disappearing from the options so looked for an app. After trying several ruler apps that didn’t do what I needed, I finally came across this one which works perfectly for what I need.

I can use it on the screenshot, moving it up gradually each row. It’s also very handy as it is translucent when moving so i can see clearly where to put it, but solid colour (you can choose the colour) when placed so much easier to follow line of beads etc above it.

Could be used for any kind of pattern ie knitting, tapestry, weaving etc or as a ‘reading line’ as I used to have in my real books ( it’s a dyslexia thing), to help read a screenshot.

Obviously it can also be used as a ruler but I have loads of rulers. This app has saved me loads of time transposing patterns onto paper so I could use a real ruler to keep my place.

Im a very happy customer, thanks.

  • Love it!

I use it to keep my place on crochet patterns. Only downside to it, when you load it up, it uses the last photo you took, if you could select a new photo if you wanted one, and by default it stayed the same, that would be better.

Edit: I can pick the photo I want to use the app with, but it doesn’t remember this photo and ruler placement the next time I use the app.

    Developer Response

Dear TamsM, Mostly users take screenshot and start to measure it's sizes using the app, so picking up the latest screenshot by default is the best idea we can do. If user want's to pick another screenshot then there is an option at the top right side to show screenshots in a list, and user can then even pick from gallery or from camera if they want. If it's not happening at your side and you found a bug, we would love to solve it.
  • Not ready for Primetime

First time you open this app, it remains on. No off switch. I'm not sure if the measurement is in pixels or whatever. I can't use this.
