Reviews of Adventures of Kidd

I love this retro game

Playing this game brought back memories of my childhood retro adventure games. I love the fact that it only charged u $1.99 to finish the game besides that this was an awesome game. No ads n there definitely wasn’t any in app charges for a character or powers. I hope there’s a part 2 to this game coming or an update where more levels come onto this game. Dean thanks for this one. We need an “Adventures Of Kidd 2” with no in app purchases or ads again. 5stars

Response from developer

Hello there Slikk ! Thanks for your encouraging message. It really means a lot to me and gets to the heart of why I built the game in the first place. I haven’t given up on the Adventures world at all and I hope when the conditions are right I can expand on the universe. Thanks again !

Love Playing This Game On My iPhone 15 Pro

I’ve been playing this for a while now and recently upgraded to the iPhone 15 Pro. The retro style is amazing as well as the soundtrack. Please make another game Dean or more levels! Can’t wait to support your next project 🙌🏾

Has it's flaws

The game is everything it says it will be and - gameplay wise - the enemies are interesting and challenging, the fighting feels fun and rewarding - and the powerups are nice little get out of jail free cards for when the going gets tough. I also love the mimics, clones and boss battles. That's what's good about the game.

Now what isn't...

This game is very very short, which i understand isn't necessarily a problem since a short game can be great and this game does have great replayability... But the problem lies in the fact that the game charges you to play every level after the first two. Again, i can understand that this is a game, made by a business, and therefore it has to turn a profit - which is perfectly okay. But this game is tiny, after the first two levels you've already played a third of the game and the rest of it costing money just seems strange. The money isn't a lot, but the principle is the main problem. If there were more levels then i could justify the price but what surprises me most is why don't they just make it that price on the app store itself? Idk it just feels like a bit of a slap in the face when a free game, that looks like a free game and is offered as a free game, turns out to not be a free game.

But the main problem is that it's buggy. It is presented as this clean-cut, cool, new, retro style beat-em-up that will bring people back to the days of arcade with interesting yada yada etc etc. It is almost all of those things, it isn't clean. From invisible enemies to crashing randomly and a plethora of broken animations, this game is buggier than it looks. Although in this game's fairness because i do want to point out that I DO LIKE THIS GAME... i only really saw the bugs on the last level on my first play-through, but now that i've beat the game (it crashed during the final credits btw) i get them like constantly, idk if it's just bad luck or if there is a reason it seems more buggy now than before.

Also i mean, just to quickly mention this as well, clearly a lot of these positive reviews are by the company whoever pointed that out first deserves a medal.

Anyway. I liked this game. It was fun, it accomplished what it was supposed to, i'm glad I played it. I was critical of it because a review needs to point out the flaws and this game, while great, has major flaws. I will continue to replay it and i really hope the team behind it has the best of luck fixing the bugs, and i also think that adding a price tag to this game in the app store as opposed to in game might be a smart move to both make the game feel more honest to its players without changing the revenue earned.

Also, please don't take this review as a fully negative one, it's only constructive criticism. The bugs were annoying but y'know, they didn't make me angry at the game, like the invisible enemies were pretty funny all in all, especially on the cloud level when little clouds would just float around and knock me down by themselves. And that could honestly be a great idea for another level idea - enemies that could go invisible. Anyway, this is just my 2 cents, take it however you like and thanks for a fun time!
