Description of Audiobus

Open up new worlds of creative music making possibilities with Audiobus, the musical hub that lets you use your compatible music apps together, just like virtual cables. Here are some of the things you can do with Audiobus: Send live audio or MIDI from one Audiobus-compatible app or AUv3 Audio Unit to another. Add effects on top of your favourite synthesizer, and use your favourite step sequencer to drive it. Or plug in your guitar, and create your own effects chain, in parallel with your mic input. Adjust the mix and balance with the mixer. And send the result to your favourite DAW, sampler or looper, or run it out through a multi-channel audio interface. Integrate your music gear with Audiobus: connect a Bluetooth or wired MIDI keyboard to play a synth or other app or Audio Unit. Or, control your whole session from a foot switch or other MIDI controller using Audiobus' MIDI Learn In-App Purchase. And sync with external hardware with Audiobus' best-in-class MIDI clock. The possibilities are endless. Audiobus has a rich community of over a thousand great compatible apps, including: - Korg Gadget - GarageBand - Launchpad - Animoog - Loopy HD - Cubasis - Auria - Amplitube ...And many, many more. Reviews of Audiobus

  • A Godsend

Truly... If there were more out of the box thinkers and tinkerers out there like this developer, music and every other human endeavor would be brought within reach of every one of us-as this developer has brought, the expansive possibilities of choice and inspiration to practicality, within the music community... This app is truly an amazing tool for those of us who can dream up potential possibilities to apply it to, within our musical arsenal.

    Thank you so much!
  • Good. Some suggestions…

MIDI-routing is a tad cumbersome: Selecting from a list of open plugins to set a MIDI target would be far less tedious than sifting through my _entire_ plugin database for a plugin I already opened. Routing could stand to be more flexible in general: Plugins can be rearranged only within their own chain. Allowing plugins to be moved to other chains would save a ton of time. Also: Presets have no file dates. Would be really nice if they did. Would also be really nice if there were an option to autosave/auto-reload previous session (in case of a crash, I don’t want all my unsaved progress to go *poof*)… For the times I want a quicker/simpler alternative to AUM, I begrudgingly open Audiobus — begrudgingly only because this is the 2nd copy of AB I’ve bought (v3 came out right after I bought v2), and I doubt my suggestions would ever get implemented: AB don’t seem to do UX updates within the same version. Would bump up my rating if they did. I hope they do. AB still has its place within the iOS plugin chainer category.
  • Total control

I’m using a CEntrance MicPortPro with a Sennheiser microphone. This app lets me see and select available interfaces. In the case of the MicPortPro, AudioBus lets me select left channel, right channel, both, or any combination. Accidentally selected both left and right, plus right, resulting in higher levels (actually sounded better). No other app I’ve seen gives you this kind of control. After you select your input, you can add plug ins and Route the audio out to the app of your choice ( in my case Twisted Wave). Indispensable. Suddenly using an iPhone to record voiceover isn’t such a cumbersome effort.

Thank you! That's great to hear.
