1.3

December 2, 2018

Howdy folks! 1.3 brings a *ton* of fixes, performance improvements, and visual improvements. New Features: * Push Notifications for new Episodes! * Log in with Google (if you signed up that way on the server) Fixes and Improvements: - Moving to fixed height cells in the episode listing in compact width. This drastically speeds up scrolling, at the cost of some text squishing on 4" devices. - Fixed an issue where the download progress indicator would only fill to 25% and then complete. (Turns out a complete circle is 2π, not π/2. Who knew!?) - Fixed a crash when playing videos with an expired login - Fixed a crash when dismissing a modal message with a gesture - Fixed an autolayout ambiguity on the series installments listing - Fixed an autolayout error on the episode screen - Fixed a crash when preloading images while doing a search - Fixed a rare case where resuming a download would repeatedly fail. - Downloads that are stuck can now be deleted - Better detection of downloads that won't ever be resumed - Fix a crash in the background that prevented Background App Refresh from doing its magic - Fix Series layout on the iPad Plus a lot of other tiny improvements. Enjoy!

1.1.1

March 30, 2018

1.1.1 - Fixed a crash for some users when tapping the download button - Fixed a pesky autolayout conflict 1.1 This is a huge update! Big highlights: * iPhone X Support * Searchable Episodes This has been a long requested feature and I'm glad to announce it is here. Just swipe down on the episodes screen to access search. * Browse Episodes by Series Many episodes on the website have been grouped into series. This now shows up in the app, allowing you to easily browse and play all the episodes in a given series. These episodes are ordered sequentially, rather than in descending date order. * UI Improvements Dozens of details about the app have been tweaked and improved, making it feel more smooth and polished. You can now drag down from the episode screen to dismiss. Code in show notes is now easier to read. Images are now more likely to be cached and loaded, improving offline browsing. Bugs fixed: - Fixed issue that caused crashing on iPads when tapping on Share or Download on an episode - Fixed issues with adaptivity on iPads when using multitasking - Better handling of remote images - Fixed a merge conflict issue when favoriting episodes For the ultra curious: - App updated to Swift 4 1.1 requires iOS 10 or higher.

Reviews of NSScreencast

  • Most practical Swift tutorials

NSScreencast does a great job proving concise and deeply practical Swift tutorials.

Since these are self-published there’s no need to fit a YouTube format. So, learning is quicker while being less fake and pointlessly flashy.

I recommend NSScreencast for anyone doing Swift development.
