Digital Circuit Simulator Lite User Reviews

Runs VERY hot

And drains the battery at a drastic rate.

Response from developer

The help balloons appears immediately when you start the App, If you follow the help link inside one of the balloons, the you will get full help panel. everything in the app is natural and easy to use, and this is according to the most customers feedback. If you still can't use it, then you may be not specialized in the logics field.

Better

Tried it again. Work better on my I pad now.

Response from developer

Lite version is meant to give you a taste of the full version. if you like it and need it then right, go purchase the full version. Its cheap. I deserve some return for my time and work.

Flip flops

Can you add q and q bar to your flip flops please

Hardware point of view

From a hardware point of view it would be good to have the option of using H (high) and L (low) instead of 1 and 0 on the circuit diagrams. Apart from being the “correct” way of doing it, use of H and L provides a better understanding of positive and negative logic. Positive is “asserted high” and negative is “asserted low”. The 1 and 0 correctly belong in tables and charts. [I have long been in the role of providing on-the-job training relating to the introduction of new systems.]

Dont get

There are probbably better apps than this, its extremely laggy, the graphics are extremely bad, and its very unclear how to actually use the app.

Response from developer

you are probably not specialized in the logics field.

Once you find out how to do it, it’s great!

This is as good as doing it on a computer! It has flip flops and all gates. I haven’t built anything yet in it so I will see about lag. Also I’m not for sure if you can create a intergrated circuit. But it’s really good for it being free! Scrolling with a circuit/gate is a bit too fast.

Response from developer

long tap a gate to initiate wiring then swipe to the target pin in the target gate. (please read the direction in the help panel). also flip-flops is there, swipe the toolbar to the left to see them. please re-rate accordingly.

Needs fix

The app crashes upon launch. Will re-rate after I’m able to test the app.

Response from developer

Please Check and update to the latest release. and please re-rate accordingly. Thanks.

Function

I finally know how to use this app and it is so great now that I know how to wire! This app is so fun to use! Good job!

P.S thx for telling me how to wire

Response from developer

hi, Thanks for using my app.

Update: most problems fixed, but iPhone X notch causes problems

UPDATED REVIEW: The new update fixes most of the problems I originally noted, making this app much more friendly to use 😃. It’s great that the developer listens to and acts on user feedback. However, on the iPhone X many of the top bar’s buttons are mostly blocked by the phone’s “notch”, resulting in users needing to tap randomly in that area and memorize the position of the different functions. Once this bug is fixed I will definitely use this app often.
Overall this is a great update, with just this one pain point for some devices.

Another nice-to-have but not essential feature would be the ability to open multiple circuits at once and connect them together/combine them, which would allow modular design that could be connected when complete. A good example of its use is with the multiplexer and demultiplexer example circuits, which could be combined together to better demonstrate their function.

ORIGINAL REIVEW:This app works, but is not very user friendly. It would be much more useable if you could zoom in an out, as another review mentioned, you can barely fit any useful logic in a single screen before needing to scroll. It would also be useful to have an alternate method to long tapping, for example 3D Touch on iPhone 6s and newer. Also there seems to be no way to move a gate after placing it other than by deleting it and placing another one. (Edit: they can be moved, but it was at first unintuitive how; and not emphasized much in the help page, I did not initially spot it.)

With these things fixed and a few other small things (e.g. a typo, the Help menu is labeled "Halp"). Also the developer should really be more kind to users, rather than accusing them of "not having common sense", instead realize that perhaps the app could communicate functionality better. Also it is not made clear what the difference is (if any) between the free and paid versions.

The ability to save and load projects is also critical in this sort of app.

Overall the app works, but is not user friendly enough for regular use, but with a few minor improvements as mentioned above it could be incredibly useful! I hope the developer takes my advice in this review, this app has the potential to be great!
