  • Almost perfect

Coming from Marvin so the only feature I miss is the archive/backup/restore. I would like to save a full backup of my library/bookshelf with all meta data either in Dropbox or iCloud. Other than that I’m pretty happy with my subscription.
  • No interaction with any cloud providers…

…tells me all I need to know. Basically they just want to sell you hard drive space by the month. I added an extra star because it’s so polished, but if you’re reading this, find a better app. I know there aren’t many options for epub readers in the App Store, but this just feels like extortion. Prices are not reasonable. Not even an option to add your own fonts! This app needs a lot of work, and a better revenue model. Edit: Years later, they’ve addressed nothing. They just wanna sell accounts. Also, there’s no export function so I can’t even get my data out of the app. Removed a star so now we’re just down to one. I’m just done. Delete!

P.S. if I am miserable and toxic it is because this company has illustrated how to be so very well. Get a life! Your app was deleted days ago! I didn’t even delete my account, so my data can sit there taking up space on your servers forever and ever! Wanna be petty? Im the king of petty!

We provide a full ebook reader and manager with seamless sync with bookmarks, reading progress, highlights and other upcoming collaborative features that requires the use of BookFusions backend (cloud) and is not compatible with third party providers that simply provide only a storage solution. Full export of all highlights and notes are available in several formats and users can re-download their uploaded eBooks. Additional users can also install their own custom fonts as well. BookFusion will support uploading eBooks and other content from Dropbox, Google Drive and other cloud providers but you will still need an account for the services we offer. We are sorry to hear that BookFusion does not meet your needs and hope you find a suitable app for your use case. Enjoy the rest of your day!   For potential readers, please take the time to look at our other reviews and update history, for facts. This user is simply entitled and disgruntled because they expect to use services for free. Unfortunately we respect our readers privacy and do not sell ads nor readers data and must charge. Our revenue model is perfectly fine for the readers that are not interested in selling their data or being shown ads. Use Apple Books or Google Books that are completely "free", no one is forcing you to use BookFusion Enjoy being the king of petty :)
  • Excellent idea, but still needs work

I got very excited when I found this app, but it still has some limitations. For example, I cannot control what version of a book is uploaded to the app. For a novel, this hardly matters, but I've found that PDF versions of coding texts are often much more usable. In order to upload only PDFs, I've had to create a second Calibre library and strip out the non-PDF versions -- a lot of work, and still Book Fusion doesn't necessarily update to the PDF version. Also, don't plan on doing anything with Book Fusion on your Mac or MacBook Pro. Even copying and pasting is incredibly painful when running on mac os. So, I see a lot of promise in this app, but it's not entirely ready for prime time. I'm rooting for it.

  • One small request

This app/service is fantastic. I’m happy to pay for it. However, the one feature I really need is for the book reading to also switch to dark mode with the system settings. The app is dark mode but when I open a book I’m blinded by black on white. I have to manually switch between black text on white and white text on black. Please sync with the rest of the app.

Thank you for signing up and using BookFusion #2. We will be releasing a fix later this week #3. Can you reach out to support@bookfusion.com with a sample of that EPUB or MOBI. We will be happy to have this fixed. This issue is sometimes specific to particular books. #1. We can't force transition the reading themes since other readers read constantly with dark mode but allow their device (phone/tablet) to use system settings. As a result applying the theme inside the reader is left up to the individual. Doing it automatically will result in the opposite feedback.
  • Does what you want

Ticks all the boxes like no other app quite does, but adding your own downloaded ebooks from your files was quite finicky

  • Great app and devs listen

This is a great app that keeps getting better! The developers listen to us users and often fix issues quickly or implement ideas for future release. I can’t recommend this app highly enough.
  • The perfect reading app

Finally found the perfect reading app, after many months of trial and error. I am visually impaired and have a hard time staying focused, and with BookFusion the customization options are limitless, making it now easy on the eyes and easy to stay on track. I am forever grateful!
  • Did not meet my needs

I was looking for an alternative to Apple Books, which disabled highlight/note sharing. I was told this does, but when I tried to export highlights I got an error “Unauthorized.” Couldn’t figure it out. There are also bugs. For example it does not recognize my Apple Magic Keyboard. I can type, but spacebar doesn’t work, and key commands don’t work. It’s a beautiful reader, but disappointing and not meeting my needs.

Hi jimmythejim Thank you for trying BookFusion. 1. Exporting highlights - You have to sign in or sign up to allow us to process and package your highlights for export to one of these formats PDF, CSV, HTML or Markdown. It appears you might have been evaluating the app without an account. We will update this message from "Unauthorized" 2. Apple Magic Keyboard - Unfortunately, we did not officially support this device and was not aware of this issue. We can look at resolving. We do have a support system in place and are more than happy to hear from our readers to resolve any issues.
  • Subscription service to add offline books?

Apps decent. Kinda like it. But uh…what’s up with having to pay a subscription service to add more then 10 offline books to the app? I don’t need cloud storage. I just want to read books on my phone. That alone makes it a 1 star.

Response to Developer: weird..Yomu was updated 3 weeks ago. Guess that’s considered abandoned? lol thanks though, your response proves i made the right decision by not supporting your app.

Hi Jeffrey99, There are many alternatives such as Apple Books and others what allows you to simply read on your iPhone without cloud services. BookFusion provides much more than a basic eBook reader. You can use the app for free with up to 10 eBooks with all features unlocked, If you want to use it for more than that then you have to pay. You do not even need to create an account. Subscriptions start at $1.99 which is very reasonable if you want to go beyond the free option. We provide a full ebook reader and manager that seamlessly syncs, eBooks, bookmarks, reading progress, highlights & annotations across all devices and will support upcoming collaborative features that use BookFusions backend (cloud). All other e-reader apps do not offer the features or functionality we provide. You might have noticed all "other e-reader apps have" not been updated for the last 3-4 years as they have been abandoned. Expectations of continuous updates and new features are not a "one time" expense. Unfortunately we cannot reasonably offer a  one time payment due to the following reasons: -- Infrastructure, storage and other costs are due monthly --Salaries are also due monthly(app needs to be maintained) --Other recurring expenses Most apps that offer a one time payment, often end up not being maintained pass a couple years since the developers/company need to work on other projects to supplement their income. This has happened to Marvin 3, Kybooks and multiple others.  In summary there are recurring expenses that will always be due monthly or yearly. We want to build a sustainable company that does not depend on ads or selling users data that stands the test of time. As a result, we won't be able to provide a single payment plan as they are not sustainable.  The truth is when most platforms offer a lifetime subscription the following is often done:  -- The cost is really high to ensure that they will be sure to cover all expenses or -- They provide you a lifetime plan but at 5X the current price. Most of the times they plan to sell the company or monetize their users in other ways past the period when lifetime users are no longer profitable I would like to pay you a single fee for the job you do daily while continuously expecting you to do it and provide me with the latest updates, ensuring it works year over year. Does it sound a bit unreasonable now? To close, we are not forcing you to use our app so no need to leave us a negative review because you do not want to pay for a product, Apple provides an app for free that should more than meet your needs. Enjoy the rest of your day
  • Speak Screan - the way it should be; press play to listen

Speak Screen accessibility feature should work this well. Page after page, of uninterrupted listening / reading :-)
Downloaded “The War of the Worlds” and was able to listen AND read highlighted words.
