  • Great app but needs an update

It’s been two years since its last update. This app has fallen behind in content compared to the website. Useful in a pinch, but the website is better.
  • Audio glitches / plays double

I love the web version. I mainly use it for the pronunciations, but the iPhone version has a bug that causes it to repeat the beginning of each word, in all three dialects. Today I looked up “áisiúil” (handy) and all three dialects said “Aw-Awshool!” Every word does this. I deleted and reinstalled and made sure I had the current version but the bug persists.

  • The sound files stutter

On apple iOS 14.6 the sound files now have an obvious stutter. Apart from that the app is excellent.

  • Love it! But a backarrow would make it perfect

This app is so helpful. It would be perfect if I could back up to where ever I was before. This would enable discovery and searching which is crucial to language learning. For example, I search on Bain. I then click on one of the links but then I can't back up to the main page for Bain, I have to retype it in again. Am I missing something?

  • Thanks for this great app

The Teanglann.ie website has been a daily resource for me, and I’m now so glad to have all those dictionaries available offline. As a remote, independent learner of Irish, it helps me so much to hear samples of pronunciation from the three main dialect regions. Many thanks to Foras na Gaeilge for working hard to promote this beautiful language. Maith sibh! Go raibh maith agaibh!

  • Éacht iontach amach is amach

This is an amazing resource for anyone learning or using the Irish language on a regular basis. It includes the Ó Dónaill [Irish-English] and de Bhaldrathe [English-Irish] dictionaries as well as the Ó Dónaill & Ua Maoileoin [Irish-Irish] dictionary. For learners, it gives pronunciations (in three dialects!) and the grammatical variations of many words and importantly it lets you create lists of favourites and recent searches to help you build word lists to improve your vocabulary in general. I really can’t recommend it enough. I haven’t encountered anything comparable for any other language.

  • An absolute must-have

This is an essential app for students of Irish. I wish that there were a way to add it to the context menu to lookup selected vocabulary when reading.
  • The best

The best Irish to English dictionary available.
