Works for me.

I’m drawing and designing needlework stitches, mainly for needlepoint and embroidery.
This is the only app I’ve found that I’ve found that’s simple enough.

There used to be some software we could order but it’s no longer available.

All I need is lines, both straight and curved, and a good range of colors.
This is the only app I’ve found that fits my needs.

In fact, this is the only thing I’ve found that even comes close which is very surprising.

Perfect w/ a suggestion

This app was just what I wanted. Perfect, with a caveat.
I wanted an app to help me in designing, or editing, a Bargello quilt design. This app was a perfect solution. It allowed me to choose the size of grid I wanted (68x108) and to copy or import a picture file onto the grid. The picture underlying the grid let me see that my calculated grid size was off by a few rows AND I was able to adjust the grid to fit the actual “size I need.
The only suggestions I would make would be to allow the modification of individual rows (horizontally and vertically), and to allow substitution of color to the imported picture; ie from original purple to blue. This app would be a great addition for quilters.

Fantastic

I love this app for all kinds of grid types. I use it for weaving pattern grids, who’s is like pixel art. Being able to add row and column numbers is nice. So many choices! I recommend this app to anyone that needs regular spaced lines and shapes for their projects

Excellent for coverting knitting charts

This is a brilliant qpp for knitters. Simply set up your grid to match your gauge then import chart image and paint or rebuild in new size & proportions. The hide functions then hide your original image allowing you to export your gauge appropriate chart aa a pdf whicu can be imported into Row Counter app to knit from.

Don’t Waste Your Time or $

The image uploaded makes the image such awful quality. Wanted to use it for grid reference but there’s no way I’d use this app as it is for this. Also the 0.99 is for part of the app not the whole app.

Response from developer

Thank you for commenting on the app. To get the sharpest graphs, see our tips for making fine-line graph paper at https://www.nnnsoftware.com/how-to-make-fine-line-graph-paper.html. Also, if you choose the PDF option, you can choose the fine line width option used for the PDF. For grids converted by the Paint tool into a pixel image, use the highest resolution at the conversion step (there is a choice of 75, 150, or 300 dpi.) App purchase includes three paper types - rectangular grid (the most commonly used and most powerful), dots, and diagonal — with all of the app's features — grid line color, size, and spacing, custom settings for paper size and margins, ability to put multiple grids on a page, ability to convert grid to a paint image where patterns can be colored, etc. As you noted, specialty papers can be purchased later, such as brick - a favorite of beaders.

Cannot delete lines in Paint mode

Making the graph paper the size you want is great. If all you want to do is that, this will work great for you. I like to draw out basic designs for cabinets, pantries, etc. for figuring out how to organize a space. There’s no way to erase or undo a line, which unfortunately makes this product useless to me.

Response from developer

Thank you for taking time to comment. As you wrote, GridMaker has tools to draw lines on top of a graph brought into Paint. To delete a line [1] tap on the line to select, shown when a dotted box is drawn around it; [2] tap the trash icon added to the toolbox when the line was selected. If you are on an iPhone in portrait mode you’ll need to scroll to see the toolbox, or rotate the phone to landscape to better see the extra tools. Also, once one line is selected, tap the arrow keys to step through the lines. [If you accidentally delete a line, use Undo to get it back.] Another option is to export a grid and edit it with your favorite drawing or painting app. For the sharpest and most flexible results, convert your graph design to PDF and then export it. Many graphics apps will import the PDF as vector data. Graphs converted by Paint can be exported as an image.

Do not like

Cannot use pencil with this app! Found no settings

Restore a recently deleted

I accidentally deleted a grid, and I was wondering if there is a way to restore? It was many an hours of work.

Exactly what I wanted

I wanted to try different graph paper formats for a website background. This is absolutely perfect and allows flexibility in all aspects of the graph paper creation (colour, spacing etc). It can be exported into several formats at a high resolution. This allowed me to import it into the website and do exactly what I wanted with it. But it can also be imported into other software such as photoshop or note taking apps if I want to draw or type on the graph paper. For only 79p this did exactly what I wanted!

Great for technical nerds like me

I’ve been using the online version of this app for quite a while now & was very glad to find an actual app for iOS. I like to build grids that subdivide 11”x17” paper into 1”=1’-0” with each foot having 12 squares in order to create scaled drawings without using an architects/engineers scale in the field. But you can build whatever graph you’d like or need for whatever scale you’re working with.
