Version History of Skiplit

2.4.2

February 25, 2022

This version makes some pretty minor bug fixes and improvements to bring Skiplit completely up-to-date with the latest version of iOS and iPad OS. You would think that because the changes were minor that they would have been easy to implement, but quite the contrary! When I tried to put the code for the app on my phone to test it, I kept getting lots of weird errors that I had to scour through, and ended up kind of changing things randomly until it worked. Maybe if I pretend that I understood what I did then it'll be true. Happy Skipping!

2.4.1

January 25, 2022

This version has just some very minor bug fixes and improvements, like a new and improved loading screen when the app first launches. This version also updates a lot of the frameworks that Skiplit uses. What does that mean for me? Hours of trying to figure out why different things were giving me a bunch of errors and having to re-configure my computer because apparently it couldn't find the "readline" library. What does that mean for you? Absolutely nothing (well, not nothing... Skiplit might be slightly faster now)

In this version, we added... Wait for it... Achievements! That's right, you'll now get a little trophy when you do certain things on Skiplit. There's even a few secret achievements... I give you some hints on how to get them, but that isn't a very lit thing to do. Stuck inside? Play Skiplit with your family and see who can get gold on the most levels! (I'm rooting for you, but don't tell anyone I said that). Happy Skipping!

2.3.3

In this version, we made some minor improvements and bug fixes. We also updated Skiplit's page on the App Store with an awesome new preview video — go check it out! And if you love Skiplit, take a few seconds to leave a review while you're there — it helps us out a lot, and your feedback makes us skip with joy! Every time we upload a new version of Skiplit to the App Store, the build number goes up by one — it's kind of like an "internal" version number. If you tap the options button after you update, you'll see that this is build number 100 of Skiplit! Yay! Don't understand what that means? The least you could do is fake your excitement... Remember to follow us on Twitter @SkiplitApp for tips, tricks, random semester-long periods of silence, and more! Want to help the Skiplit community grow? Share Skiplit with your friends and compare your progress with them! Happy Skipping!

2.3.1

January 10, 2019

This version fixes a bug that caused some new users to experience a crash when they opened Skiplit for the first time. It probably goes without saying, but it is recommended that all new players download this update. In version 2.3, we added five new levels, improved support for the iPhone XS and XR, and made some improvements and minor bug fixes. The play button got a lot smarter, too! Instead of always taking you to the earliest uncompleted level, the Play button is will now bring you back to whatever level you were working on last. Now, you may be thinking to yourself "Ok. That's pretty cool and all. But why are you making such a big deal out of this? Can a button really be smart?". Well let me tell you somethin' — with the amount of time I spent trying fixing bugs with the new button and coming up with edge cases, it better be smart, and even if it isn't smart, I'm just gonna call it smart to make me feel good about how much time I spent on it. I would add another paragraph about how cool the new play button is, but I figured maybe you'd want to know more about updates to the game rather than a button... Particles now appear whenever you run out of skips! I would describe what they look like, but we both know I won't do it justice, so update Skiplit and go check it out! In addition to all this awesome stuff, we improved Colorblind Assist mode, and made some minor bug fixes. We also added a cool little easter egg, but it wouldn't be an easter egg if I told you where it was, now would it be? You may be wondering why there haven't been many updates to Skiplit recently — let me answer your question with a story: There once was a boy named Skipper. Skipper had all the time in the world to update his games and add new levels, and people that played Skipper's games were happy. Then one day, Skipper found himself taking seven courses and having nine hours of class on Thursdays and Skipper also had to learn the programming language R for one of his classes and even though Skipper didn't want to learn R they forced him to learn it and now he can't un-learn R no matter how badly he wants to and now people are gonna think Skipper knows what statistics is even though Skipper really has no clue what that word means. That story was a work of fiction. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. We'll be adding some big new features in a while, so stay tuned! (Did someone say Skiplit 3.0?) Do you really really like Skiplit? Or at least really like it? Take a few seconds to rate us on the App Store, and if you're feeling especially awesome, write Skiplit a review! We really appreciate your feedback — it makes us skip with joy! Happy New Year and Happy Skipping!

2.2.10

July 9, 2018

In this version, we made some major performance improvements for iPad users, as well as some improvements for all other iOS devices. Mainly, we fixed an issue that was causing some iPad users to experience lag. We recommend that all iPad users update to this version (and also to any new version, because, like, why not? But especially this version). In addition, we made some fixes and improvements to colorblind assist mode. This is usually the part where I go on a rant about how long it took to fix a stupid bug. But I'm not going to do that this time. Doing something like that would only waste precious characters, and I can only use 4,000 of them in an update log. Therefore, I am going to not talk about how terrible bug fixing is, or about my love-hate relationship with coding. I would hate to waste your time by making you read those few sentences where I go on a rant, and I wouldn't want to waste my own time writing something like that, so I'm not going to do it this time. We've been hard at work on Skiplit version 3.0, and we can't wait to release it. Follow us on Twitter @SkiplitApp for sneak peeks, updates, and more! Love Skiplit? Or at least hate it only when you can't figure out how to complete a level? We'd really appreciate it if you took a second to review us on the App Store — we enjoy reading your feedback! Don't want to write a review? Steal your friends' phones and download Skiplit for them! You know what's fun? http://fun.page.link/fun is fun (self promotion executed flawlessly) Happy Skipping!

2.2.9

In this version, we added five new levels, and made some improvements. We added a new "Colorblind Assist" option that changes the color scheme of Skiplit to make colors easier to distinguish. We also fixed a bug with the Skiplit Community that caused white-outlined ghost grey balls to not act properly. We also made some other bug fixes but they're really small and really hard to explain and I kinda sorta don't really want to type that much right now so I'm not going to but I guess my reasoning would make this giant run-on sentence is a little ironic. That's about it. We're working for some big new features for Skiplit 3.0! It'll be a pretty big ACHIEVEMENT when we release it in a few weeks but I've already said too much. If you love Skiplit, share it with your friends. Have boring friends that don't want to play Skiplit? Share it with random strangers! A great way to do it is by walking into random restaurants and demonstrating the game to people while they're trying to figure out what they want to order. You can also just launch the app and go to the level that it took you the longest to solve and just hand your unlocked phone to random strangers you pass on the street and see if they can solve it. 2.2.8

In version 2.2.7, we made some bug fixes that fixed issues that could cause progress to be lost when upgrading to a new iOS device. In this version, we made fixed an issue that caused certain users to experience instability when trying to edit levels in the Skiplit Community. We also changed the font used when "Font Assist" is enabled to make it look a little nicer. That's about it, but I have like 3,700 characters left for this update log, so I might as well throw a little plug for the Skiplit Community in here. If you haven't visited the Skiplit Community yet, you really should! Just tap the blue "Community" button on the menu screen. You can design and share your very own levels, and play levels people from all over the world have created! The more people that play your levels, the higher the chance that it'll make it onto the trending levels list, so make sure to share your level creations with your friends. If you have any feature suggestions, let us know at skiplit.com/contact — we love to hear your feedback! Happy Skipping!
