  • Difficult to use

Navigation and having a clear understanding of requirements is not friendly. Taking a photo of a document was to say the least a challenge.
  • Made My Life Easier

Not only did the app make my life easier, it made my information more accurate and more complete. It was also very easy to use.
  • Sub categories

Would have been helpful to know the names of the categories before I started scanning in items so I could’ve separated them by the categories.
  • Smart link malfunction annoying

Quite a powerful app in many ways, but amazingly annoying this year because Wells Fargo smart link feature seems to fail and need reset almost daily in order to stay active for automatic upload of tax information from my financial institution.

Whether this is a WellsFargo or a TaxCaddy problem, this bug detracts significantly from the app experience.

Hi Jim. I'm sorry you're having trouble with Wells Fargo Smart Links. We are aware of the issues and we're working to build a new approach to TaxCaddy's Smart Links feature that should improve the connections for next tax season. Stay tuned!
  • Not quite there

I am sure there are worse but interface requires practice with some frustration involved. The direct links to financial institutions is concerning.
I am signed up as a spouse user but I do the tax filing prep so I uploaded all the documents on my account planning to link to his, but I can’t. He links to mine but not the other way around.

  • Very hard to take document picture correctly

I downloaded the app as a suggestion of my CPA. It’s look easy to handle but it has been very difficult to upload document pictures correctly. Added by mistake I uploaded a picture that was not me, I could not find how to delete it.
  • Frustratedx

I have found very little in this app that works. . Taking pictures of documents was a night mare. I have spent 2 days trying to link my brokerage accounts with this App. Get the same messsge with instructions that don’t work. Help pages have totally different screens than what I get.
  • Suggestions

Would love to be able to create aliases to differentiate otherwise identical accounts.

If a Tax Caddy link is successful, then that item should be removed as a To-Do from the list of needed documents.
  • Off to a Bad Start

My introduction to TaxCaddy was to fill out an on-line questionnaire on changes in the past year. Retirement. Should be easy. 62 questions, but many of them involve technical legal retirement program terms. Part way through, I wanted to save partial completion to check something (I could as easily have wanted to pause for dinner and complete it later); but there was no apparent way to partially save (and you cannot leave any question unanswered). The App was locked in the questionnaire until completion. Couple that apparent flaw with the statement at the end of it that once you “submit” your answers you can never change them. What if I made a mistake (or got new information) and wanted to revise an answer? Too bad, your error will be forever reflected in your tax return? Next, one of the “Questions” was a directive that if you have not already linked your bank account to this App, insert your account information here (or better yet upload a photo of a check). That’s an audacious assumption that I’d want to link my bank account to this App, especially at this awkward introductory part of getting used to the App. What additional irritating things await? If I wanted a do-it-yourself tax return, I’d buy TurboTax. I don’t like this.

Hello. Thank you for the detailed comments. The number of questions is controlled by your tax professional, not TaxCaddy. The TaxCaddy questionnaire does not need to completed all at once and it saves progress automatically so you can resume at any point. It sounds like your tax professional included a fillable PDF questionnaire. The TaxCaddy questionnaire should provide a better user experience. If you "made a mistake" your tax professional can always reset the questionnaire for you. Regarding the account linking, TaxCaddy's Smart Links feature is optional. We suggest people use the feature because it can save time but you're not required to use it. • App is buggy, needs work

The phone app does not show any message conversations that were sent on the computer. When you send a message it doesn’t tell you who it is going to. When you upload a document on the app can’t rename it because the keyboard never goes away so you can’t click continue. Just doesn’t seem like it’s fully developed and thought out. If I upload a document that isn’t assigned my tax company can’t see it. What’s the point in giving them extra documents if they can’t even see them??

Hi Sarah. Thanks for the feedback. Messages sent on the app are viewable in the browser, and vice versa. Also, all documents you upload are viewable by your tax professional. If those two things seem to not be working properly please reach out to our support team: https://helpcenter.taxcaddy.com/hc/en-us/articles/226693168
