Page flipping is now optimized, and will perform much better than in previous version. Also, AI model generation will happen now much faster than before. Generally, if the model is older than 60 minutes, it will be updated based on the viewing times of the last two months. Everything older will automatically be removed.

This version fixes a crash due to super large images of some feeds when they were tried to be used for layouting a collage image per story. Also, it adds more support for feed groups which makes selection of feeds more easy. If you are missing your languages, it is mostly because It is difficult to find good sources of feeds, i.e. they should at least contain an image to be displayed and correctly formed. Let me know if you find feeds that you are missing currently. Also, if you are a knitter, please explore the ravelry connection or the special ravelry feeds. As usual please contact me via the website.

Description of NewsTeller

This is a "news reader" for RDF, RSS and Atom, for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and CarPlay: with NewsTeller, you can listen to RSS feeds, in the car or while running around or doing other sports activities. Just download text to speech voices via your phone and enjoy high quality playback. Note that any voice is randomly selected per language group that is either a premium or enhanced voice to increase listening quality. The app will order recent stories according to time and previous usage behavior, by utilizing AI (Core ML) and updating the model every time the app starts. If you are connected to CarPlay, the app will show all the subscribed feeds in your dashboard. Within each feed, you can listen to any story, and even see the main image of it. You can skip forward or backward as you like. For all stories that you’d like to listen in detail on the go, without having to connect to the internet, you can save them on the pinboard. Just make sure to complete the download process before going out. If you have your Apple Watch with you, you can also watch your stories or listen to them. The app does not store personal data on a server. All preferences are stored on the phone only. In addition, no content is replicated or processed on the server with the available feeds. It even stores some information to learn what stories you like and sorts all recent stories accordingly using Apple’s AI technology (called CoreML). New feeds are always added, and through intelligent filtering you can select those feeds and stories that interest you easily. Just select a keyword for the feed or stories Any feedback is always welcome. Thank you.

Reviews of NewsTeller

  • Is custom feed support broken?

I tried adding a custom feed, and it processed ok but never added the subscription. So when I go to feeds it doesn’t show and tells me to go subscribe to one. I tried three times and at that point I gave up.
  • Very neat idea

The idea is simple. Subscribe news RSS feeds and listen them. I think idea is very neat.
