Description of BugFinder

BugFinder is an indispensable tool for nursery and landscape scouts in Ontario. It’s simple, easy to use, comprehensive and accessible offline. Built on a robust database containing first rate images of pests and plant damage, BugFinder will launch with 800+ photos covering 82 pest species of the most common nursery and landscape pests. Every species entry includes information on what to look for, life stage descriptions, vulnerabilities, active ingredients, and suggested management actions, each with 14 different time segments based on GDD and plant phenology. Dynamic checklists are generated based on user specified GDD values and plant phenology, providing quick and accurate searches that only show the relevant information.

  • I did not do

    Does it do ants????
  • Never works

Downloaded it trying to find out about bugs and it never works
  • Data set not very strong. Also has scrolling issues

The list of host plant on this app consists mostly of flower, fruits and perennials. If you are looking for pests that attack say, Lettuce or spinach, you wont find those as host plant. I am a vegetable farmer and expected search to include common pests specific to vegetables.
Image search: When you scroll down to select a host while doing image search, the drop down automatically selects the last item on scroll list even if that is not what my selection is. Wherever the scrolling ends, that item is selected as host plant. Quite annoying.
I expected to ID a big by uploading a picture. Would be a useful feature to add to the app.
