Reviews of Hello Belly

  • A bit judgmental

The layout is easy to navigate and not overwhelming. Lots of information on a variety of things. Also includes meditations and yoga moves.
What I don’t like is it asks you to allow notifications every time you open the dang thing. But more importantly a lot of the blurbs come across as judgmental and shame-y which seems to be a thing in pregnancy world. A lot about what you need to be doing and what you should not be doing and not a lot validating that sometimes just getting through your work day and managing to eat anything is a miracle enough.
A classic example “eat it without a twinge of consciousness but don’t forget it will not bring much benefit to you and the baby” …ok so that sound like a guilt trip to me.
Just doesn’t make me feel good at a time when I already never feel good.

    Developer Response

Hello! Thank you for choosing our app 🎈 We will definitely take your opinion into account. Stay with us and we will pleasantly surprise you more than once 😉💖
  • Disappointing

I love the illustrations on this app and was excited to use it, but one of the first articles I read contained some major food shaming. Balanced diet is what is key for good health and the suggestion that a person will regret every cookie they ate during their pregnancy is infantilizing and condescending. There are far more important things to worry about after the birth of a baby.
  • Not for me!

This app offers information that is inaccurate and EXTREMELY judgmental. For example, there’s a whole article about how drinking soda in your second trimester will lead to GD, and you should be consuming less than 150mg of caffeine a day. The official limit according to doctors is 200mg a day. This is only one example, I have frequently been put off by their articles and advice.

Being pregnant is already a difficult time with many restrictions, give moms a break and at least offer judgment-free accurate information.
