To be honest, it's just been a while since we released an updated version of the app. We updated some billing UI. We made some critical updates as far as just making things continue to run smoothly but it's all technical jargon the writer of this can't explain properly.

This release includes a lil something we're calling Explore Tasks. It gives you a brand new launching point to start tasks that you may not have even known you needed. Get lots of new ideas on ways to use Magic. That's it - but it's still worth updating, I promise.

If you've been dying to share Magic with your friends, but want to get something in return, now's your chance. We've made you your very own share link. When you share Magic with friends using your link and they sign up, you'll both get a free hour of Magic. We've also just created a new way to limit time spent on every task. Spending controls sets a default check in time across your account, so your assistant will alert you when you've reached your set time limit and ask to proceed if necessary. And, ya know, bug fixes.

This release is all about billing features and boy do we have some treats for you. We've made it possible to view your bill in mobile, meaning you'll get weekly notifications when your bill is ready, and you'll be able to get instant insight into time spent on each task. We've also made it possible to refund yourself on an individual bill, no catch. We've spent some time fixing some group bugs as well. You'll get notifications when someone joins your group.

In our last release, we gave you Groups. This release is mostly to make a few bug fixes and add some stability to this new feature, but we also made our signup flow nicer so it's easier to get started. We also brought back the “see all” closed tasks feature so you can look at previous tasks and all of the wonderful things Magic has accomplished for you. Oh, and now the app is usable for those of you with DNS ad blockers. (you’re no longer being punished for being proactive about your network, wtg!)

Introducing [insert drum roll] Groups! Picture this: you're in a meeting and after an hour of arguing over the color of a button on your homepage, your teams' collective stomachs are growling. And lucky you, you're the person in charge of the lunch orders. So you can spend the next twenty minutes figuring out where people want to eat, and what weird diet they're on this week (looking at you, Karen "I only eat cucumbers now" Thompson). Orrrrr - pull up Magic Groups and let your assistant handle the gritty details. You'll get lunch before you all get hangry and you're the office Hero (at least until you start arguing about the button color again). So yeah, Groups allows you to communicate with others and create group tasks that are handled by your lovely assistants. You may also notice that the design is a little different (better). That's because we hired a designer to make things look GOOD. More to come on that front.

Description of Magic Personal Assistant

Get help whenever and however you need with Magic. Magic connects you with a live virtual assistant any time, anywhere, 24/7. Magic works on projects to improve your successes at work and at home. We free you up so that you can grow your business, accelerate your career, spend more time with loved ones, and focus on the important things in your life. When you sign up, you are assigned a team of remote assistants. Think of them as an extension of your company, scaling with you as you grow your business. Magic charges for the active time assistants work on your projects: web searches, calling vendors, creating spreadsheets, sending emails and more. We do not charge you time for project assessment, wait times or activity that do not relate to active work on your projects. While Magic is powered by software, it's not artificial intelligence. You're not chatting with a bot. You’re talking to a team of assistants who value a professional relationship with you over time. We will remember your preferences and tastes so that each task reflects your personal stamp. Using Magic is simple: 1. Chat with us about what you need to get done 2. Your team of assistants start working on your task 3. We update you along the way -- or change course based on your feedback 4. We get it done ---- Here are a few examples of how you can use Magic: - Find me engineering candidates with 3-5 years of experience. Look on LinkedIn and give me the first 5 results in a spreadsheet before continuing. - Add job title, company and contact information to this list of sales leads - Convert this PDF into a document and summarize the essential learnings - Give me a comparison of automatic sedan rentals for my upcoming travel Scotland. Call to make sure pick up and drop off from my hotel is ok. - Copy this intro pitch blurb and email it to the attached list of potential investors. Record positive, negative and no responses in a spreadsheet for me to review. - Book a haircut appointment with my stylist every 3 months. Look for an open slot on Fridays between 11am and 3pm.

Reviews of Magic Personal Assistant

  • Used to be good; just awful now

This is a great app if you want to pay someone to do a Google search for you.
  • Could’ve been great. But often drops the ball.

Because of image sending often not working. Which is what I use to provide context to tasks. They don’t have the knowledge to complete tasks.

In the most recent context, I had a jet skiing date with my girlfriend and had to move the time 2 hours later. And because of an image not sending with a screenshot of the phone number. I ended up being charged $300+ and no jet skis for the rest of the day. So date blown.

They drop the ball in other respects, and over count hours spent as well.

This is a hard app to do logistically. I get it. But just seems like laziness as this app has been around awhile now. So no excuses anymore.
  • Terrible

I needed four labels printed. It took an hour+ ($40+) after me asking for four labels for this app to tell me to put stamps on them instead. After I complained I couldn’t quit, they had a manager contact me that I didn’t ask for after not cancelling my account per my ask. I had to demand they cancel my account. Then I kept getting emails I couldn’t unsubscribe to. They still haven’t cancelled my account, are contacting me over email, and my financial information is still visible. Don’t work with irresponsible tech developers who represent a liability more than a service. This was t about the labels, this is that they won’t allow you to leave.
