  • READ THE PRIVACY NOTICE

While adding the Deseta Emojis to my keyboards in my iPhone settings, I read the privacy notice. Here's part of it:

"Third Party Keyboards provide an alternative way to input keyboard data. These keyboards can access all of the data you type, including bank account and credit card numbers, street addresses, as well as other personal and sensitive information. These keyboards may also access nearby text or data, which is useful for improving autocorrect functionality."

There's more and it doesn't get less alarming. Needless to say I did not add the keyboard which severely limits the functionality of the app. But I'm wondering why in the world would something like this be approved by apple anyway? Scary stuff!

With all due respect, I think you may have gotten a little too worked up over this. We do state in the app description above that full access to your phone is required in order for the keyboard to work. For 3rd party keyboard apps developers, this access is the only way that the copy + paste function can work. I wish it wasn't this way - we certainly don't want to make anyone uncomfortable - but this is unfortunately how it is for ALL 3rd party developers out there. There are literally THOUSANDS of 3rd party keyboard apps available on the app store, and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them have this issue, including all of those very popular celebrity ones. If you were to read the privacy notes for each of those, you would read the exact same thing you read on this app, and then copied and pasted here. And as for wondering why Apple would approve such a thing, you should know that they are they ones who wrote that privacy note. And as we stated in the app description above, and again in the download instructions, we will NEVER access ANY of your information on your phone at ANY TIME beyond what is needed for the copy + paste function to work. This is our absolute word. We did not invest as much time and energy into building this robust app just to take more time and energy to engage in any ulterior motives. I am an artist and a designer, and it was truly my only passion to fill a void and build you a beautiful keyboard app that represents who we are. My partner is an app developer, and he just wanted to make this keyboard to work smoothly. I hope that with this explanation, you better understand this issue now, and reconsider the rating you gave us, which was due to an issue that was out of our control, and was one we owned up front. It would be disappointing to see our otherwise very positive ratings be negatively affected by a misunderstanding like this.
  • Well Done!

I normally don't leave reviews but I have the commend you for this one guys. You have brought so many Habesha's a lot of joy by letting us express ourselves in an innovative way. It is not only cultured but also very beautiful and has so much humour. Thank you and hope to see more of your work! Well done again!

  • Deseta Emoji

Fun habesha expressions that can be shared amongst the East African community and those who are familiar with our ways! Welcome to use by all! Loving it!!!
  • Finally!!!

I'm obsessed with these. Better than expected! Would be nice if I could use them on some apps like Facebook and Instagram when typing.

glad to hear it was better than it was expected. :) unfortunately, with all 3rd party keyboard apps, the emojis only work as stickers that get sent as an image. i wish we could have them added as inline text, but right now that is not possible. sorry if this wasn't clear prior to installation! we tried to convey that in the screenshots included in the app store. but thank you still for the kind words and rating!
