Music Theory Professor User Reviews

Great coverage of music theory

The app covers music theory in a clear and easy to understand manner. Each concept is broken into bite size pieces with a little video and you can press a button to get further information on the concepts.
To practice/test the knowledge, you can click a button to go to an accompaniment app. There are a couple instances where clicking this didn’t lead to the corresponding concept, but overall I didn’t use that feature much since I mainly wanted to just learn the information by hearing it.
Presenter’s voice is well-suited for the instructional videos. Easy to follow.

Excellent introduction to music theory

This is one of the best apps I have come across for rudiments of music. The lessons are well sequenced and the pedagogical approach is effective. The depth of the examples which reinforced by MT Pro exercises is just right for the beginner, however I have rated it a 4 because I feel the breadth of material should be expanded to include basic concepts like modes and more advanced concepts like chord substitutions. Also some more material on slash chords would be useful.

I highly recommend this app.

Excellent app

This app is amazing for only one dollar, it’s lessons are concise and clear and the whole thing is easy to use. The only downside is that to truly get your money’s worth you need music theory pro which is another $4 I believe, but if you think of this as a $5 bundle it’s completely worth it for anyone trying to learn more about music theory.
