App No Good
Our issues are entirely with the app required to use the camera.
- The app frequently has a major times delay (2-4minutes), I'll acknowledge that this could be due to poor internet connection. However our internet is very reliable, so I doubt that is the cause.
- The apps software mutes the sound on it's own. I have an iPad in our room, streaming the monitor from the nursery. Several times I've woken during the night to Bub absolutely hysterical, all because the app has decided to mute itself and we haven't been able to hear the initial stirrings from Bub. This has caused a lot of stress for everyone, especially our baby. What is the point of having a monitor, if we cannot be woken by it while we sleep? This is by far, our biggest frustration.
- The app will also randomly close itself down. So the frustrations remain the same as the point above.
- The process to pair the monitor/camera to the app is not the most user friendly. We intended on using this monitor for overnight stays as well as in our own home, and it requires setting up each time you are using a different WiFi connection. However due to the difficult set up process (which took over an hour on our 1st overnight trip) we instead purchased a significantly cheaper monitor to use for traveling.
I have been using this monitor now for 10 months, and have been patiently waiting for an app update in the hope that these issues would be rectified as "Bug fixes". I think it's fairly obvious to state, that has not happened.
Considering the cost of the physical monitor, one would hope that the software required to use it would be up to standard and user friendly. We love the aspects of the monitor that work, the picture quality is lovely but I'm beginning to find the monitor useless based on the software. I cannot justify using a baby monitor, when it's unreliable at accurately monitoring my baby.
