Description of GovRegs

Governments should be both accessible and transparent to the public. GovRegs' goal is to help facilitate the public's access to the laws that the US Government promulgates. Our mantra is simple: laws are complicated. Navigating them shouldn't be. GovRegs is a 100% free app that provides the public with access to three types of vital US legal information from the convenience of your mobile device: (1) US Constitution (2) Titles 1 through 50 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) (3) Titles 1 through 54 of the U.S. Code (federal laws & statutes) Regulations and US Code come with notes & annotations, including listing of public laws. Through this app, you will be able to access IRS and tax regulations; FDA laws NASA's rules; Fish & Wildlife; import and export requirements; First Amendment on freedom of speech, and much, much more. The GovRegs app is navigable as well as searchable. All data is stored on our server, which checks for updates to the law regularly. This ensures that you are always accessing the most current laws and also that your mobile device's storage space is not hogged. GovRegs is provided to the general public for free. We do not charge to download, install, or use. There are no ads. We don't track you, we don't access your phone book, and we don't know whether you like one or two shots of espresso at your local Starbucks. User satisfaction is paramount. If you have any difficulties with the app, feedback, ideas, or complaints, please contact GovRegs at apps@govregs.com or on Twitter @GovRegs.

  • Stopped Working

Unfortunately, it looks like the electronic CFR has changed formats and so this app no longer works. You can’t tell them on the ‘app support’ page because it doesn’t have any way to contact the dev.
  • Well done, but crashes

Someone needs to go through and fix the memory crashers. Otherwise this is a well done app!
  • So far so good, but hard to read

I was looking to print out a copy of the definitions found in 49 USC 40102(a)(15). I found them, but the entire text of the 69 printable pages was run together in one long stream. Unlike the website that breaks everything up into paragraphs and lines, everything inside the app is run together making it unusable.

Good effort though. I gave it three stars because I am excited about a company not trying to make a profit while trying to improve our understanding of the laws in government that govern us.

I look forward to using this frequently once these changes are made.
