AVL Calibration Technologies smart mobile device solution for allowing access to your dedicated AVL In-Vehicle Mobile Applications.
THE CHALLENGE
With the new real driving emissions (RDE), the conditions for emissions testing and certification have changed significantly. The route requirements need to fulfil larger criteria such as speed range or driver behaviour.
Due to this increased complexity, the percentage of invalid tests due to violation of specific driver route requirements is significant. Therefore the driver needs several trials to finally reach the required criteria. The new regulations force engineers to adapt their testing methods and technologies to overcome the new RDE challenges.
There is an ever increasing demand to execute development and calibration activities more efficiently and effectively. Vehicle validation is normally conducted in dedicated test facilities such as emissions chassis rolls. Due to these ever increasing demands the test facilities are generally fully utilised and overbooked. Therefore engineers cannot execute their validation within the planned timeframe.
Furthermore, with the new Real Driving Emissions (RDE) legislation, the need of vehicle testing on the road has increased and entails particular demands and requirements. For example, how to repeat RDE tests on the road.
THE AVL SOLUTION
The AVL CalApp offers the user the ability to utilise the smart device as a display and remote control in the vehicle, ensuring enhanced safety and optimised visualisation. It can be utilised to execute AVL In-Vehicle mobile applications such as: RDE Dynamics and Drivers Aid.
RDE Dynamics:
The RDE route analysis application provides an online evaluation of the driver criteria for real driving cycles and tests.
The application provides the driver with a graphical display of the current status for the driver criteria (urban, rural and motorway), such as driven distance, trip shares, test duration, dynamic behaviour and average speed.
Drivers Aid:
The Drivers Aid Application is a stand-alone application to guide a driver through test cycles (pre-configured or custom specific) by graphically displaying the specifications of the driving test procedure.
It provides the driver with a graphical display of scheduled and actual vehicle speed, gear shift requirements and also user-defined events. The permitted tolerance for vehicle speed deviations can be displayed and configured with a single touch icon.
The AVL CalApp requires the remote connections and dedicated In-Vehicle Mobile application software to be enabled/running on your host computer/devices.
