Description of Chant Tools

Offline Mass Propers This app is an offline version of the chant tools available at http://bbloomf.github.io/jgabc/ It is mostly intended to be useful for containing the Gregorian Mass propers as well as the Gregorian Mass ordinaries as found in the Liber Usualis, and transcribed on GregoBase (http://gregobase.selapa.net) and there may be some mistakes in the chant. If you notice any, they can be corrected in GregoBase (if you go to http://bbloomf.github.io/jgabc/propers.html and find the chant with the mistake, you can click the link above the chant on the left side to get to the GregoBase version of the chant, and edit it there to fix it, or request that it be fixed.)

Reviews of Chant Tools

  • IOS App Not ready

I appreciate the hard work, and am very thankful for the chant tools. But the iOS app (both iPad and iPhone) just does not work correctly.
  • Wish it worked

    Chants won’t play
    Lack of organization
    Things are beyond the screen
Things move when I tap them
    I wish this would work
  • Best Gregorian App

This blows all the other tools out of the water. It has the most comprehensive ordinary and propers for masses, and the best psalm tool. There are some improvements I’d make-
1- have a “simple view” and “complex view” for the psalm tone tool- all we need to select is the tone, special ending/solemn, whether it shows all the verses written out or bonded/italicized, and the psalm/canticle!
2- there is an “English” version, however, none of the psalms are in English and it would require an external source to work.
3- the propers for the Novus ordo calendar don’t sync with the calendar like the traditional calendar dates do
4- having the other hours integrated into this would be so huge!

That’s all for now, but thank you so much Ben!
    God Bless you!
