Great tool for midi sequencing

This app really makes compositions better when used with midi sequencers. It helps make things more interesting because less notes is usually better. -Please continue to support Midigates.

Awesome if you know how

Awesome if you know how to use it. Adds a great deal of humanization to self-generative MIDI.

Please update this app to 16 to 32 gates

I love this app. It is an essential part of my compositional process but 8 gates are not enough. If this app can be updated to 16 or 32 gates and have CC control on the parameters it would be PERFECT!!!

Great app, great dev

App is simple to use, creates musical iterations of eg a simple arpeggio, and nicely fills a niche. Dev responded to a question I had within minutes! You can’t ask for more than that for a few £s.

AUM force multiplier

20200327: If I open a midi channel in AUM, then I just automatically add at least two instances of midiGATE to it after the midi-generator. It works great to daisy chain midiGATEs too. Never seen more than a minuscule accretion to the DSP percentage from stacking these things in multiple midi channels. A.K. makes good stuff. Wonder if midiSTEPs is going to get some update love soon as well?

Great app! Essential for sequencing

Since I bought this app I have used it daily. I usually have five or six instances going in AUM. Works great, no crashes. Perfect for taking complex midi phrases and filtering out notes to make it more sparse and random. This is such important little app, opens up a ton of possibilities.

Fantastic, but a little bit buggy!

Lots of crashes on ApeMatrix, and usually in complex project that utilize the AUv3, loading the project after creating it leads to the plugin crashing and unable to reload automatically, forcing you to add another instance manually and reconfigure it. Tedious.

As for the rest? What can I say? This is just magical, I use it a lot in the same way other comments describe. It’s particularly amazing when combined with a sequencer, as it can lead to fantastic “procedural” variation of a loop. Fantastic for drum tracks, but can be used on anything really, especially also for ambience stuff.

Since apparently the dev is focusing on AUv3 support now, I’m sure stability will increase. When it does, i will give this the damned 10 stars it deserves, out of five that is.

5 stars!!

Edit sept 2019
Au v3 support added! Get this thing already. Thanks developer!

This app is now vital and indispensable in my workflow. Highly recommend!

To the developer, any plans for making this an Audio Unit (au v3) for use directly with AUM?

Good app, but a problem bug

I use this app a lot to thin the midi stream from generative apps like Autony to a second or third synth app, and it has a very intuitive, usable/tweakable/musical immediacy for that purpose. However, just hit a strange bug, running Xynthesizer in AUM out to BS-16I and Animoog in AUM. As soon as I hook Midifltr-pg to Xynthesizr, the master tempo for everything maxes out at 240bpm, and cannot be altered, even though AUM is the master. Take MIdifltr out of the loop, and everything works fine again. Very frustrating. Here’s hoping this can be fixed.

Good

Useful app, but doesn’t support having multiple instances open in Audiobus
