  • Interesting start

For a basic look at how evolutionary algorithms work, this is a fun start. I did however quickly bump up against some limitations which I think could make it better.
    - Muscles should have maximum and minimum stretch. I tried to make a creature with bones only connected by muscles (no joints) and found that the muscles could stretch to absurd lengths. So much so that they would extend way beyond the edge of the screen
    - There should be a zoom out/zoom in feature so you can see your entire creature if it extends beyond the edges of your device
    - It would be interesting to allow exact attachment locations on a bone rather than just the middle
    - Multiple muscles between bones would also make it more interesting
    - For experimenting with boneless creatures, it would be cool to have direct muscle to node connections rather than restricting them to bone connections
    - And finally, for longer simulations (10 seconds or more) the creatures often get trapped in a steady state where nothing happens. There should be some sort of progress detector to look for stationary states and force the creature to do something different.
For what it is, it’s fun and easy, but it was so successful that it quickly had me wishing it could do more complex things.

  • Would be 5 but...

I love this game it's a good concept and fun to watch the only problem is that the game Crash between the second and tenth generation so could you please fix this then you will get 5 stars.
  • good

    pretty good
  • Amazing!

Every few months I look for new apps that are good artificial life, neural net, and digital evolution and rarely find ones at all, mich less good ones. This one, however, is a wonderful exception. Very well-implemented, and hours of fun for both enthusiasts and those just looking for a stimulating, thinking-person’s app. Plus you can build your own creatures - so a good app for people who like to play God of their own digital universe :).

    Highly, highly recommend!

  • Would love to see water creatures

I think it would be super cool if you could have creatures that could have to swim a certain distance. Also I would like to see the ability to save a creatures brain and use it on other challenges like the jumping one
  • Fun NN toy

This is a great way to use NN as entertainment. The responsibility of the player to create functional creatures also adds a nice layer of interactivity, rather than just watching AI play like most NN programs.
  • Neural net shows enamoring tendency to break rules

It’s awesome to see the AI tend towards picking the candidate of each generation (after a few hundred) which has the highest tendency to glitch through the normal muscle contraction/expansion to get through the tasks it’s being tested on. I’m in aww! This game is so fun!! I want to see more like this in the future maybe a three dimensional one?

  • Great evolution simulator

This is beautiful. Lovely to watch. Would be great to see variation in bone lengths or joint position as the creature optimises itself.
  • WOW!

This is amazing! The feeling of creating "things" and watching them as they struggle to move is amazing!
  • Bravo!!

Excellent app! Teaches the basics of genetic algorithms and neural networks in a fun, user friendly game. This app should be played by every child in school. I hope you end up making millions off of this. Well done!
