  • Where all the Thai people at?

I want to learn Thai and kept matching me with other speakers: Not good.

  • Cool!

Great app, some fixes needed but for the purpose of connecting with other language learners, it does it perfectly!
  • They refuse to improve safety

Safety is not optimal. Especially for women online. However the male founders seem to think it is. I don’t even care about the fact I had a hard time finding people to speak German with. I was harassed by middle eastern men and Indian cat fish scammers and they let them stay on after repeated complaints. There is no way to block these creeps or easily report them. They launched way too early

Sorry to hear you had that experience, that is a shame. If the block / report function does not seem to be working, please use the same caution and common sense you would use anywhere else on the internet. Luckily, many people have not been harassed on idyoma and went on to make many life long friends from around the world. We will check on the block / report function. In the meantime, if you need to report anyone, send their username to info@idyoma.com and we will manually ban them from the backend.
  • Disappointed

I was going on this app to learn languages with people like me, but from the country of the language I wanted to learn. I was disappointed to find there was no age, or interests filter, making the app useless to me.
  • ITALIAN PLEASE

It would be great if you had Italian! Roma, Venice, Napoli ANYWHERE IN Italy please
    Thanks
  • Language exchange

  • Waste of time

I’ve written over 20 people and not one has written back to practice. Are these all bot accounts? And, somehow they get you to a page to make you pay for the app with no ability to leave that page before it takes payment. Shady business and you won’t find a partner. Reviews must be fake as well! I’m disappointed!

Hi Bella, Adam here, one of the founders of Idyoma. Sorry to hear you weren't getting many replies. According to my data over 45,000 messages were sent this month. Perhaps the people you messaged hadn't enabled notifications from the app? This isn't something a developer can enforce but we're trying to encourage all users to allow these notifications to come through. If a user hasn't enabled notifications then maybe you'll receive a response next time they open the app. And can you please send me a screenshot of the page which wouldn't allow you to go back? The one for the optional in-app verification? Because that payment is optional and the page should have a clear back button in the top left of your screen. You can send me a screenshot to adam [at] idyoma [dot] com. We have all nice real people in the app! - so it's unfortunate you came away with that impression. Normally verified users with lots of photos and a nice bio get the most messages. I hope you can give the app another try and find someone good to practice with :)
  • Worthless

If you can’t even search for potential partners based on language, how can you call this a language learning app Nor can you search by country in most cases. All that leaves is rather pointless Tinder-like swiping. I have to think the positive reviews are fake, or not by language leaners but rather just people who want a way to have random chats with other users based on their photo.

UPDATE: Check now, we have implemented these changes as promised. Hello, you will be happy to know we will be filtering by language by the start of next week, if not sooner! We didn't do so before, because we were a relatively new and up and coming language community. Now we are considerably larger, we can start filtering. The tinder like swiping is a mechanism allows all of our users to get a fair shake, as you are forced to make a decision to check out their profile in more detail, or can go on to the next user, allowing for a more equitable platform. We are, as you can see in our app description, a meeting place for language learners to connect with one another, which we are very effective at - so no, the reviews are quite accurate. Feel free to message me directly if you have any other concerns, I will be more than happy to follow-up with any concerns or ideas you may have for idyoma. john@idyoma.com
  • Highly recommend

Really enjoying using this app. It is so convenient to use this app when travelling as it helps translating the foreign language to the one you know. It is also a great opportunity to learn about cultures and backgrounds of your visiting country through Idyoma. You don’t have to worry about the language barrier now when you have this app in your phone. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
