  • So disappointing!

I have used Kid Pix since it first came out, and this version is disappointing. It doesn’t offer the range of colors that the old one had, and the help menu is no help. I am losing functions every time I use it. Last night the print option disappeared from the menu after printing 4 pages, and I had 7 more to do. And there are never updates or bug fixes on the App Store. 😢

  • iPad Pro/Air support

I love this app, it’s almost as great as Kid Pix 4, which I used as a kid. One thing I’d like to see added is support for the new iPad Pro/Air screen size; right now, it has black bars on the top and bottom which make it less immersive. Otherwise, this is a great portable version of Kid Pix!
  • Return of a Classic!

I first jumped on the Kid Pix bandwagon back in 1991 when it was released for the first generation of Macs. In fact, the reason we got the Macintosh LC instead of the Classic II the following year was to run this amazing program in color!
30 years later, it is great to see it around and updated for a new generation of children. Kid Pix has always been a top program for both creativity and exploratory learning. While the interface may have changed, it is nice to see some elements remaining, such as some of the sound effects and the original rubber stamps. (If only the firecracker eraser were still in the program). Kid Pix transfers nicely to the iPad in terms of usability and has some new features that even stun this longtime fan of the program.
While I still have that Macintosh LC, it’s nice to know we now have a modern version of an all time classic. This one is definitely deserving of the five star rating and is worth the money.

  • The Best!

We had this app years ago on our computer and loved it. Guess what? We still love it. KidPix rocks! It’s totally awesome. I think it has almost everything that the old KidPix had plus more. And the customer service is amazing! Get it, you won’t regret it!
  • Absolutely Awesome

I was worried that MacKiev may go under with the release of Catalina. Not did they not go under, but they released a new version of Kid Pix to accompany the new version for the Mac. Frankly, I am shocked that anyone would give this less than 5 stars. It is MARVELOUS on the iPad. It is nearly identical to the Mac OS version, which is a feat of stunning engineering, considering the paltry versions of formerly great pieces of software like iSpy from Scholastic. This is a masterpiece and has set the bar very high. Well done, MacKiev. I could kiss you!

  • Solid mobile Kid Pix, but missing some features

Kid Pix introduces several new features that build off of older versions. It’s fun to have a version of it that can be used without a computer, but this new edition is missing some things as well.

The drawing tool size is quite small on even the largest size, and this carries over into the wacky brushes. Also, there seems to be a lot fewer colors than seen in Kid Pix 3D, and I’m kind of sad that the iconic Kid Pix theme song didn’t return in this one.

This being said, Kid Pix has been ported to mobile nicely, and features like the stamp editor are easier to use than ever.

Overall, Kid Pix 5 is worth it if you’re a fan of the series, but it does pale in some aspects.

Also, here’s some bugs: The Undo Guy doesn’t speak when pressed sometimes, and some of the wacky brushes don’t work, like the spinning prism. Thank you!
