Reviews of STEWARD Home Automation

  • Awful

Worst smart home app I’ve ever used. Im actually furious that Sterling Ranch set all my stuff up on this app, as I now have to figure out how to switch it to a real smart home hub and it’s difficult when they didn’t leave the product boxes. The lights consistently don’t respond, the thermostat consistently doesn’t respond (yes, my internet connection is solid). The interface is clunky, building routines is cumbersome. There has to be a way to use a different system.
  • Terrible App

Everything about this app is awful. It functions like someone’s nephew “knew how to make an app” and could create “something” on the cheap. There is nothing smart about this app. You cannot create automations… what is the point of having a smart home if you can’t make it smart?

The only capabilities this app even enables, when it works, is to turn things on and off. Why can’t I configure it to turn the porch on at sunset and off at sunrise? Why can’t I schedule vacations and turn off the water lines when I am gone? Why can’t I even set light dimmer levels?

This app is missing the most basic of functions, all wrapped in a bow that was designed by someone who thought it’d be cool if menu options could be dragged around the screen so they were difficult to tap on.

If you have to send a physical person out to configure and set up this app then it is poorly designed. Anyone with the most basic of tech ability could set up an ecobee or hue light system. Why can’t this work the same?

Spend some time actually making this app useful or abandon “Steward” and hire a team who specializes in home automation because I would be deathly embarrassed if this was the product I released.
  • Doesn’t connect

The app always has connection issues and now I started getting this: Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.
