What Chord? User Reviews

Top reviews

Wanted this my whole life

I am awful at reading music and can’t transpose to save my life, but I love to play and have been for 20 yrs now. I play in many different tunings, so it was impossible for me to say what chord I was actually playing, and I would just reference the chord shape to remember. But now I can actually refer to the correct chord, which will make playing with others much easier. Thank you so much for making such a useful app! I love it.

straight to the point

Extremely useful If you're just looking to learn the chords across the fretboard In a sea of apps that are designed for cowboy chord aficionados

Need ukulele version

This is great, but I have to translate from ukulele to guitar each time. I don’t want to look up a cord and it’s not easy.

Response from developer

Hey! Why don’t you create a ukulele version then? Why don’t pay each year to AppStore to give your app for free to all users? And users will not use feedback option within app but will give you 2 stars here in store complaining they have to translate chords for bass guitar each time. It is so supportive, so motivating, not discouraging in any way, isn’t it? and my question now: what are the chances that developer will give you what you want with such attitude ?

I love this app

I cannot tell you how helpful this app has been in my love. As a songwriter I’ve found that I often discover new chords for my music as I’m writing, but I don’t know exactly what the chord may be. Which causes issues for notation! With the help of this app I can perfectly notate every song I write!

So useful

This is actually a GREAT app! I’m surprise I am just now finding it.

Audio

Not a terrible app but it doesn’t always ID the chord and there is no audio of the chord which would be helpful

Big help

My brain can not name some of the weird chords I create or hear in some covers we do. This tool is excellent for that or just keeping the basics in your head. I use it a lot.

Simple yet handy

Good app, does exactly what it says and looks pretty nice too

Guitar Chords

I love it.

Very useful tool

This is a great app for anyone looking to decipher chords and get the names and a better understanding of why they are named as such, and how they are made up. You know the situation where you may play a chord, and just slide your finger up a fret on one string, or take another finger off and think how nice the chord sounds and wonder what on earth the chord has now become? Well this app will tell you exactly which chord you are playing, so it is a great learning tool.

I would have given 5 stars, but to me, when you open the app up, the fretboard seems to be upside down, which means I have to rotate my phone 180 degrees.

A great feature to add if the developers can manage it, would be to make it possible to hear the chords as you build them on the app.

Thoroughly recommend the app to all guitarists as a great little pocket reference tool.

Thank you for you feedback. Please check new updated version 1.0.7 with possibility to lock orientation as you like. Maybe now it deserves 5 stars?
