Impossible to Set Up

In order to use the app one has to sign up for an account. After entering Name, Email and choose a password, you will get a verification code per email. Whenever I enter the code to verify my account, an error message appears “Incorrect Verification Code”. This stupid app does not work. I tried 20 times over 2 days!!!!!!!!!

After receiving your response, it seems you guys don’t take the issue seriously!!. Of course I was entering the “correct” and “latest” verification code. It worked after I tried to do it for 3 days!!!!!!!! Same with every account I tried to set up for family members. Instead of replying this nonsense, I would recommend you spend some time trying to address and fix the issue.

Total failure - do not buy this

Despite numerous attempts, I consistently get an error message saying the device is offline. I follow the instructions to the letter yet it never works. I tried contacting local technical support but they just told me they couldn’t help because they don’t recognise the model number!?!?! A total joke. No offer of how to remedy this issue at all.

I rest the wifi as suggested, scan the QR code, join the UID device wifi connection using the given password, then I add my home wifi password and I get a message saying ‘waiting device online’ which counts down from 150 and ultimately says ‘device offline’. It’s so frustrating and there is not even a slight glimmer of hope that this can be remedied. A total waste of money and endless hours of time wasted trying to fix it.

Not a great app

Poorly designed UI and glitchy performance make this a fairly poor app. Unfortunately it’s the only app that works with the Philips WelcomeEye system. Also it doesn’t integrate with any useful AI like Siri or Google. No choice but to use the crappy app.

Example of poor UI choice: Despite the app being loaded on an iPhone with full biometric security, the app developer FORCES you to type in a 6-digit passcode every time you want to open your gate! They don’t even let you switch this off. If I want to choose to not put in another passcode after I have unlocked my phone that should be my choice. It’s my frigging house! Please add the option to disable the passcode and stop controlling how I live my life!

Second example: the on screen buttons you have to press to type in the stupid 6-digit code are really small. So when you are walking towards your gate with a bag in your hand and the sun in your eyes you get the passcode wrong 50% of the time. There is tons of space on the screen. Make the buttons bigger! Perfect example of an app developed by people who never actually used the system or even thought about how it might be used. I am often walking home with two dogs on leads and have to fumble multiple times with the stupid passcode to open my gate.

Example of glitchy performance: When you unlock the gate the screen glitches out blue and you can no longer see the image on the screen. Not a big deal but ugly and demonstrates that they don’t really care and have developed an app that barely does the job just so they can say they have an app. They don’t care about user experience.

On the basis of the app I would not recommend buying the Philips Welcome Eye/Home hardware as the user experience is garbage. Gave it 2* because it does actually work it just makes you want to remove your own eyeballs with a rusty spoon because the app experience is so awful.
