  • Nice implementation - no save

    Nice implementation of one of my favourite deck builders but why can’t I save in the middle of a solo game? Very inconvenient especially when playing in a mobile device
  • Could be good but so frustrating to play

    There’s a good game buried under a horrible user experience. I own one of the Marvel dead tree versions and it’s a good deck builder. This version has far too many issues. I ended up uninstalling. I wish the developers would look at good card games on iOS like Ascension and learn from their example. Don’t force me to log in mid game, don’t force me to log in more than once, can’t you save my credentials? Make playing the cards a nicer experience, currently it’s sluggish and feels more like I select the cards so that the app can move them to the play area. The cards are held in a fan on the bottom right hiding most of the content - it makes the touchable area smaller and I can’t read the text without first selecting the card, which is harder due to the reduced touch area. This is just the start of the usability issues. Hire a professional UXer, get them to usability test the game for you, listen to their advice. This game could be great fun, but right now it’s a shoddy sloppy mess.

  • Fix the bugs

    I own several Legendary card games and love the idea of playing on the go. The game is just too buggy. It’s pretty much unplayable. Solo the game crashes all the time. It relies too much on connecting to the servers even when playing solo. Multiplayer is hit and miss as I’m guessing everyone else is having issues and giving up.
    Seriously, take a look at games like Cthulhu Realms and Star Realms and see how a deck builder app is supposed to work!!

  • Close, but no cigar

    Firstly, let me preface this review by saying that I'm a huge legendary fan. I own marvel legendary with 90% of the expansions, legendary villains, encounters alien and predator.. I've also got custom inserts for them all and have sleeved every one of those cards... so my investment into this franchise up to this point is nothing to sneeze at.

    All in all, I'm on the fence with what's been done with the digital adaptation of a game I clearly love. There's quite a bit that I love, but also enough that I absolutely hate that impacts my overall experience.

    What I love;

    Being able to play the general game of legendary with next to no set up or tear down. Suffice to say, this is the biggest draw card.
    Card art. Despite my comments on the theme, the art is fantastic. Some of the marvel art has been hit and miss, but everything I've seen so far of this art is really good.

    What I'm indifferent about;

    The theme. I'm unsure why UD thought it would be a great idea to build yet another fantasy trope theme for a game. With such cool franchises attached to the game already, why go with something that has been done to death?

    What I hate;

    Not being able to review the cards outside of a game. It's pretty critical for my choice of characters that I play with, that I understand what they do and how they can play off each other. Combos are a huge part of the game... which brings me to my next point...
    Not being able to select my heroes. I can select a villain and the scheme, so why can't I select my heroes? Not only am I having to learn them on the fly, I have no influence as to which I'm taking into the fight? Madness.
    Card animations. Stuttered, too quick and not very helpful. Often is the time I'll wonder what the hell just happened because the card animations were so quick it gave no indication to what occurred as part of the AIs turn. Also, often is the time (such as when a mastermind is defeated) that you won't get the opportunity to read the action on a card before something just happens.
    Not being able to suspend a solo game, or even put my iPad to sleep without the game being lost. You choose to launch the game on IOS and don't even accommodate for the game to handle the device being put to sleep for a minute without dropping the game and starting again when it comes out of sleep? So ridiculous. Same goes for switching between apps. When I go back to the game, it reconnects to the server and resets everything.
    Buggy cards. Often is the case that a card's action will say one thing and do something completely different.
    No multiplayer. Not that the option isn't there, but something is really wrong when you leave the screen to match make for 10 mins and not find a single player to join the game. Is it a lack of players, a technical issue... who knows?!
    No rule book. The video tutorials give a decent overview of the game fundamentals, but for anyone not familiar with the physical game, it's nowhere near enough to explain the finer details of the game and to explain certain key words. What the hell does 'bound to' mean for a mastermind? Who knows?!

  • Lots of bugs fixed, but still buggy.

    I've updated my review as many of the original bugs present at launch have been partially fixed.

    I can now complete a game (usually with only a few hiccups). The game is getting better, but still needs lots of work.

    Original Review below
    I've tried to play a number of games and they have all ended in random server disconnects, log outs, crashes or freezes. Some of the bugs encountered include:
    - Graphics hanging after a card has been played
    - Being unable to recruit cards even though you have nore than enough recruit (as far as I an aware 5 is greater than 3!) - This same problem exists with attack as well
    - Being unable to play cards (because the app does not even recognise that you have a card which can be played!)

    The UI of the game is terrible as well. The cards are stored in a fan format which covers up the text of the card. When you tap a card to read the text, the game often plays the card instead, and you can't undo this action.

    This game is not ready for release. It's not even ready as a Beta.

  • Fun, but I should have waited before buying upgrade.

    I realize the game is very new... But the free quick matches are almost the only way to play. I, too, am a fan of the tabletop game so I bought the upgrade right away. Most times I've waited 30 minutes for 2 others to join the online multiplayer. And Gauntlet, which requires 5 players? Never happens.

    The reload interface button is handy as it does fix the myriad of UI glitches that crop up. All in all I think this will eventually be a good game, but it's barely a 'beta' yet.

  • Great game

    I love the table top game and was very excited for this. Once it became available, I quickly paid for the solo game.

    Besides the well documented bugs that break the game, there is no way to play on your own for fun (I.e. No progress) and no way to reduce or speed up the bots. I'm hoping it gets better because I love the game play.

    Edit: I had to come back to update my review. The developer has done a great job improving the game since release including a true solo mode. Great job! I would love some off line play for when I travel but other than that, it's fantastic!

    We are working on improvements on the solo mode so it's a better experience. Hang in there! Expect updates very soon.
  • Legendary

    The app is much improved with the latest update adding true Solo mode. The interface still needs some work though. Notably, selecting of cards is still a one touch action with no going back. The cards need to be fully visible during this action, and we need a bit more time before the choice is made for us.

    And there are still bugs which prevent you from completing the game, forcing a restart of the app.

  • Great game but bug ridden

    Enjoying the game play but had to abandon first 2 games as the game locked up with different problems each time. Hopefully they can sort these glitches sooner rather than later
  • Bugs

    Lots of bugs. I can't even get passed 5 rounds. My cards are just sitting there and I can't do anything for my whole turn.

    Wow, thank-you for the quick response however this does not fix the problem. I have only completed 2 full games out of a possible 20. Example, before my turn, I had to destroy a card from the HQ ar 6 or less. I did that, then my turn happens and that is still at the top of the screen and I can't do that or play any cards. 2 minutes later my turn ends. I tried reporting but I get a disconnect. I love this board/card game and this theme I
    Looks some fun. Please fix this game.

    That last update worked wonders!!! Thank-you very much.
