We are continually improving our YouTube ad blocking to workaround any issues that arise when YouTube changes their approaches and introduces new anti-ad blocking techniques. As you note, sometimes this may result in a small period of time when issues may crop up on YouTube, but we are dedicated to minimising this as much as feasible. We will have a new release due this month which will ensure all YouTube ads are blocked without any problems if you wanted to give the app another try once this v4.5.3 release is available.
hard to set up

Sorry for the difficulties you experienced. We have tried to make Magic Lasso as easy as possible to setup but some more advanced features can be a bit tricky as it requires some co-ordination and jumping between the Magic Lasso, Safari and Settings apps on your device. The sequence you mentioned is only required if you want to see the Performance Insights for a website, otherwise for normal day to day ad blocking you shouldn't need to access this screen. We'll endeavour to make this even easier in future app releases.

Outrageous price increase

Thank you for your feedback. In July 2020, the price of Magic Lasso increased for all new users but we kept the same price for all users who had subscribed before that date. This meant that you would have received a discounted price for the app for over 3 years when compared to the new subscriber price. We did this to thank our early users for their support. However, to ensure that the app development is sustainable on an ongoing basis, in July 2023 we removed this 'grandfathered' pricing for earlier users such as yourself. At this time, you would have receive a price increase notification which increases the price to the same level as all other users had been paying for 3+ years. Hope this explains the price changes and we will take your feedback on board. We are also open to helping any users who cannot afford to pay for the app, if you need more assistance please email feedback@magiclasso.co and we'll try to assist with your concerns.

Insane pricing

Magic Lasso Adblock is constantly updated to provide the best ad blocking experience available on the iPhone, iPad and Mac. This includes regularly updating the app to include new features and providing ongoing ad blocking rule updates. Just within the last 9 months, we have provided 200+ releases of multiple ad blocking rule updates and 8+ app updates. The app updates have included major new features such as iCloud syncing, Custom Rules, Tap to Block, Strict Mode and app performance improvements. We are happy to receive feedback but please be aware that we do constantly provide additional functionality which requires significant effort & resourcing. This level of support and improvement has now continued for 5+ years over multiple major app updates across all Apple platforms. We set pricing to ensure that this work is sustainable over the long term, is comparable to similar products of a similar quality and that enables us to deliver the best product possible to our users.
