Purchased the license and tried running an exercise (take exercise). An exercise tests your skill in a topic by giving you 20 timed questions to answer. Below are my notes from attempting to do the exercise. While the material is fine, the UI is completely unusable and the lack of flexibility in parsing answers for correctness will become a huge problem as a student learns more of the language.
Questions are placed at bottom and answers at top. Very counterintuitive.
Accepts only formal responses when informal should also be accepted.
Doesn’t accept singular where either singular or plural would work. Worse… the English was passed in the singular (where is the bathroom) but the answer has to be in the plural (wo sind die Toiletten)
Doesn’t accept Alternative common responses (was heißt … but not was bedeutet…)
Under „Take Exercises“, it shows you a blanked out sentence in one place, but rather than filling the blanks as you type, your typing floats at the top of the screen.
Keyboard covers what you are translating.
Tapping on the space where your sentence is going makes the keyboard disappear.
Can’t copy/paste user name or password fields to log in.
Does not support Face ID or touch ID.
Non-native GUI app makes the entire UI for iPhone awkward to use.
