  • A whole lot of fun

    Once you get used to it. Block, often. And don't get your block confused with your attack in the heat of a battle like I just did, ending an hour long run that I was really enjoying.

    I hope the update comes out that allows you to restore a saved game after tragedy strikes. At the moment it's quite unforgiving.

    Thanks for your feedback. More forgiving game modes and gameplay options (such as respawning) are planned for upcoming version 0.4.
  • Very fun multiplayer

    For context, I had not played either of these games until yesterday when I bought Tallowmere and Tallowmere 2 on a whim looking for yet another roguelike/lite to pass the time. I immediately fell in love with and lost 3 hours to playing the first entry! I’ll admit I was skeptical a “free to play” successor could improve on such a fun, unique approach to the genre. Thank goodness Tallowmere 2 takes everything I loved in the first game and pushes it to a level of polish that frankly should embarrass many larger studios.

    I played this game for an hour today with my son, him on an iPad mini and me on my iPhone and it worked perfectly. Even when I dropped out to answer a txt or call the game kept running without a hitch, made him the host, and allows me to rejoin! Very few games on iOS get this right so I was impressed by that alone but my gosh I’m just amazed at how bad I slept on these two beautiful, lovingly crafted games. Don’t be me, play it now!

    I loved the first version. And I kinda love the second version too, however, I found some stuff that I didn’t like that Chris might want to address in the next updates: 1) The most important flaw: No bosses. There is a lot of room variations but some interesting boss fights could be nice, like Jazza or Mr Bigguns was. It’s just way cooler than just getting a random cat buff every 5 rooms :/ I miss bringing Mr Bigguns some laxatives. 2) Attack button is too tolerant, I died because I wanted to switch weapon but I threw a granade instead (maybe the switch weapon button is too small). I play at maximum resolution with 150% HUD scale 3) There are some “comming soon” unfinished parts, such as the reaper or weapon smith. 4) No merchants along the way. 5) Curse pillars are just not worth it compared to collecting loot (+1 damage but enemies spawn in pairs is the prime example, who would do that especially in latter levels?) 6) It’s just more braindead hack&slash than the first version. Especially the Emerald Dagger is very missing. I got to room 35 on my 2nd try (after I died due to the button tolerancy) just by spamming lifesteal scythe. I believe the Stun Resistance shield makes it too braindead and should be adjusted. 7) Weapons are somewhat less creative. RPG-7 and Flamethower were funny. Now it’s just melee, bow and some magic. Bugs found: When you have more than 3 rows of weapons it starts to overflow the screen, making me unable to switch to some weapons. Please address some of these issues and I will gladly give 5 stars :) Keep up the nice work!

    Thank you for your feedback. Screen resolution / UI issues: • This should be resolved in 0.3.6c now. Please update Tallowmere 2 from the App Store. You may need to adjust the resolution in-game from Options > Screen > Screen Resolution. Weapons and characters: • More things from the original Tallowmere will be coming to Tallowmere 2 in due course. For Tallowmere 2's development, I am supporting iOS in the middle of development, rather than at the end – hence, not everything is implemented yet. Weapon Selector: • With the screen resolution fix in 0.3.6c, this should be mostly resolved. However, I'll still see about ensuring the Weapon Selector UI gets resized to fit on the screen. Gameplay: • Additional curses and special NPCs will be added throughout the dungeon over time. Upcoming version 0.4 is planned to feature a new game mode. Tweaks to item modifiers are also planned for Ruleset 0.4. I appreciate your feedback. Cheers!
