Reviews of Z3 Control

  • Terrible app and terrible set up. Cannot control the speaker and will have to return for refund.

This is a terrible poorly designed and poorly tested app. Cannot connect and the whole elak line with their instruction and set ups are ridiculously hard and cannot be followed as written.
  • Elac, What Happened??

Andrew Jones, in an app driven culture, where apps control our hardware, how are you allowing all your mastery in the construction of this speaker to become nothing but necessarily apologetic? I’m no audiophile, so my connection to my speaker is via its app. In this case the app is garbage and I am so disappointed to say that my Elac, sits often unused, it is just to inconvenient with an app like this. My other speakers are all no more than $50 USD, but I still gravitate towards them because I “get” how to use them. I set my heart on this speaker because it was designed by the legendary Andrew Jones but I don’t know what is going on here, has this just fallen through the cracks? If this is a product that no one at Elac cares for, then please, don’t even put it out so that buyers like me won’t fall into the trap of making a purchase based on the credibility of a team led by Andrew Jones. I waited a year to write this review in hopes that something will improve. Nothing. My issue is that, the basics are lost. The speaker constantly disconnects from WiFi and doesn’t show up in my AirPlay so I am stuck using an in cohesive Bluetooth connection, which even at that does not maintain a connection. This speaker is anything but plug and play, or even just “play”, from a daily use persective. I’m sorry this was the last type of review I thought I would write. I would not have believed someone if they told me I’d be writing a review like this at my time of purchases. The fact that the basics are unavailable is not acceptable after spending this sort of money. I suppose the moral is you can’t trust even a reputable brand and even more reputable engineer just based on that alone. I would go as far as to say I would not purchase another speaker by Elac again. Real bummer because at the time of purchase I had my future purchase plans all mapped out and was looking forward to growing with this company as far as all things speakers and sound. Otherwise it’s a great speaker with solid hardware construction and sound to warm up any room, just pure solid silky layers of sound, just a pain in the dimples to get from silence to hearing the music. I hope to be able to open Spotify and select a song and hear it pouring out of this speaker in one seamless swoop one day when this app upgrades. Currently when I do use it I’m almost afraid to turn it off or switch to a different speaker as I move about because going back to my Elac is just going to be a headache. I will continue to hope for an upgrade or rather 100% revamp of this app. As far as replacing it, it took me two years to spend this sort of money on a speaker so for now I will just abandon my upgraded audio experience. Very sad this was a part of my life I was SO eager to purchase “grown up” products for. Hang in there.
  • Horrible app

The speaker is amazing but the app is bad bad bad. Does not connect and when it does it crashes all the time. It is unfortunate that a great brand and speaker releases such a bad app. I hope they can update it soon
