Great App

Wonderful at what it does, pretty good overall. Would be cool to see cross platform between apple and android to throw up a few communication nodes for kicks. Keep up the good work!

Excellent Performance but has a Weird Issue

Let me start off by saying I absolutely love this app, and a bunch of friends and I have use this on an airplane, to communicate midflight. Saved us some money on having a buy Wi-Fi to text each other.

The only weird thing that I really hope they fix, it seems like the conversation bubbles are reversed. New messages go on top as a post to bottom in conversation threads, which is really confusing and goes against generally all other messenger apps. Please fix this!!

Better than the rest, BUT

I would LOVE to see a group messaging option. I am planning on going on a cruise and our family would like a way to talk to each other without paying the $13/ WiFi on the boat. We are going to try this app as it seems to work the best, but if there was a group option, it would be 5 stars. I’d even pay for it if it worked with a selectable group.

Edit: I am hoping to be able to make my own group. A private one with multiple people. I’m sure other people on a cruise ship will have this app, so I don’t want everything to be public.

Hi, jamdeeper! Have you discovered the Public group messaging part of the app? On the iPhone, you can access it by tapping the bottom bar. It appears like it is the feature you are looking for if you want to message all nearby users. Hope this helps!

Great for cruise ships

Usually on cruise ships I have not got contact to family because there is no WiFi or service but this app makes it so I can speak to any of my family without internet 😁

Brilliant!

Used for a festival to keep in touch with friends as there was never any signal, absolutely best thing I’ve downloaded all year!

I love this app, it truly is a wonderful thing to have. I love the look of it the way you use it and pretty much everything else. Though I would really appreciate it if I could change my user name. Right now it is set to [Name]’s iPhone and I would really like to change it to my first and last name. Even if I could only change it once and never again, I would still be happy.

Hi! I'm the developer of Berkanan and I was excited to read your review. From idea to App Store, it took about 2 years of full-time work to make it — and still working on it. It means the world to me to see Berkanan being used and loved by others, too. Profile editing is a premium feature. Please consider subscribing to Berkanan Premium and support us. Berkanan uses the text listed in Settings.app / General / About / Name for your profile name upon first launch. If you change that and reinstall the app, then you can change your name, if subscribing to Berkanan Premium is not an option for you.

Good for text messages, NOT for audio!

If you only use this for text, it should be fine (at short distances, of course). But even at VERY short distances the audio quality is unusable.

Good, but I don’t see the point

It is fairly easy to use, doesn’t have a lot of ads, and is free, but it seems almost pointless. It won’t work from far away, so I can just yell to my friend and it would be simpler than using this app. I understand the whole emergency thing, but I feel as if it at least needs more features. I would however recommend it to anyone who perhaps lives in a busy house or party where there is no WiFi and needs to text a certain someone. But for me, it isn’t that helpful.

Very Good (Edit)

Edit: Thank you for the advice! Now I am alerted to messages after telling my brother to turn on notifications. The fact that this works so well without Wi-Fi at all is miraculous, and I will keep 5 Stars for support. But I have some suggestions, if you can add these, it would be excellent.
For starters, picture messages and GIFs would be good to have. This may be a bit too much to ask, but if you can add Tapbacks and animated texts like iMessage along with videos, that would be excellent. But that is a lot to ask, if you could add picture messages, that would be good enough for me.

Original Post:This app permits me to send unlimited messages and make unlimited calls free of charge with Bluetooth enabled. Furthermore, it does not demand for my information or pelt me with ”Go Pro!” bubbles. And for a person who doesn’t pay for cellular data, this is useful to text without Wi-Fi. I recommend.
Only one suggestion, enable an option in settings to turn on notifications so that I may be cognizant if a friend texts me.
