I had to install this app to charge my car at a hotel that advertised car charging. This could be a web page. To start charging, I had to download the app, sign up with my email address, play the game of “guess a unique username that nobody else has thought of” for some reason (please just use my email address that you also asked for) type in my card details (if you’re not going to let me use a website, then at least make the app use mobile features like Apple Pay), agree to have my card details stored.
Image having to do all this for each petrol station you go to. Other chargers I’ve used let me tap my card to pay and that’s it.
To be fair, after all the unnecessary ceremony it did charge my car, so at least it’s functional.Show lessChris 🎶
Works fine except for ext devices
Even after a few updates, the external devices to switch on/off plugs are unable to be scheduled correctly. They switch off unexpectedly… I’ve finally take them away…Ymartin

The ability to tap on a day in week mode and see the usage is just one feature the new update has removed. Why remove drill-down features?? Genuinely less use now than it was a week ago. Seriously disappointing.Colpdurbv
Update a backward step
Sorry to say that this update makes some awful changes.
1. The new graphs are poorly laid out with a bad choice of resolution.
2. You cannot pick the date like the previous version
3. The quick view does not refresh like the previous version, just sits on the same reading that it starts with.
4. There are no other choices for the dashboard, so what is the point of the new version?

Can’t get passed slash screen!
Can’t get passed slash screen! I recently upgrade from an older iPad to a new iPad Pro 11” (gen2) and now can’t get passed the splash screen (picture of sunflowers).Sim777
Getting Worse and Useless
Spent more than $250 on this Smappee Energy few years ago and was really excited about it. It was able to detect few appliances like refrigerator, microwave, kettle and part of AC. But, it never detects my big appliances like clothes watcher and dryer, vacuum dryer and most other small appliances.
Their patented NILM (Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring) is just pathetic with full of discrepancies. When TV or some other appliances like vacuum cleaner, cooker are on, the detection is all over the map as it reported all kind of other appliances being on and off. It reported about 15% detected appliances usage only of total energy usage. It is just full of discrepancies and frustration.
This Smappee Energy is a “half-baked product” and I was hoping it would improve over time, but it it gets worse, much worse. Contacted support many times without a true help, at the end, still same, not working right that full of errors. The hardware seems still working though.
As other users pointed out too, the new app is just a striped down version of the previous app to mask the all the issues of the features before as it is pretty much useless. It does not show simple function like what are the appliances are currently running like other competitor products. I lost faith and don’t trust any of their products anymore. No confidence of the company as this is a sinking ship.
I don’t expect response from Smappee on the review nor to improve the product and app. Just to share my poor experience and frustration of this product with other consumers.Show lessJamesva
Poor product
Bought a Smappee and it only lasts 2 years and they want almost $300 to repair it. I have read many similar reviews.bigsix00
Terrible
In comparison with the old app, that is - and that wasn’t brilliant!
Detection of items has always been a joke so all I’ve used it for is watching out for our usage v solar cost and generation and they’ve been taken away - and the dashboard isn’t much help either.
I’d far rather it had been left alone!Show lesskdavisa
