I use this DSP in my car and it's given me the tools to tune my system the way I want. Using Bluetooth, the app is a little buggy and some things need a fix immediately. The Bluetooth adapter is expensive for what it does and fit it to act this way is unacceptable.
Why can't we use high/low shelf filters?
Why does it take 5 minutes to load into the DSP-408 sometimes? (Is it because of a random slow/high latency Bluetooth connection? Isn't this stuff stored on the DSP? What kind of data does it need to push through Bluetooth that it takes forever to simply connect sometimes???)
Presets seemingly don't work correctly sometimes and is worrying when spending an hour or so tuning to possibly have it not save correctly.
My phone always is connected to the DSP when it's on (Bluetooth) and tires to play sounds though it even though streaming is disabled. Why? This Is annoying and unplugging the Bluetooth isn't easy in my install location in my car. Unpairing from it seems like a silly thing to have to do but that might be the only work around besides unplugging the dongle.
RCA was unusable in my car. Which was a fear I've heard about from reviews. My RCA cables were 1.5 feet long and nowhere near power runs besides the unavoidable one at the head unit next to the RCA outs. It's something to do with the RCA cable carrying noise from the head unit. Maybe ground loop but not sure how to fix that. But speaker level output is dead silent. It can only take about 7-8v of speaker level before clipping the input. So don't be afraid to reduce something so it stays within save levels.
Until those issues are addressed. I only recommend the DSP-408 to people that are aware of its shortcomings. If you're not using Bluetooth, then more than half of these issues won't bother you. But if you're looking at this app. Then you are considering it or have it.
With all that said. My system has never sounded better.
