Gotcha Wotja
Response from developer
Thank you very much indeed for your lovely review which is greatly appreciated! Thank you, too, for your feedback and please do get in touch via our web contact form to give us some more details on what you are looking to do. With best wishes, Tim.
Why make it crippled?

Response from developer
UPDATED: Hi Nic, Glad to hear you loved the paid-for SSEYO Koan Pro/Koan X apps and thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Wotja is a complex tool and the multi-level UI is the best we can do right now; it represents a huge amount of work but we will of course keep improving it! As of V21.7.0 the timeout in Free Mode is now 30 minutes :). Hope that helps and best wishes, Tim.
Refreshing!!!!

RESPONSIVE Developer(s)
Something wthin your app appeared to be an arbitrary limitation while I was tring to explore. Then there was a splash window asking how I liked it and the request for feedback was directly on the heels of the annoyance. Then I found a time limit at the same time I found a track(?) limit. Then I found that all the other sounds are locked unless I surrender money.
Everything is a walled garden and those of us without the resources to render the entry fee will forever be locked out. And it's getting significantly worse. As Apple continues its march to greed as pure energy, and every other business and manufacturer follows their lead, the technoloical divide, like the wealth divide, opens to a vast chasm that the disabled, the elderly, and the unlucky simply aren't ever going to bridge. The bets we'll be able to hope for is a quick end as we are swallowed and consumed. It isn't your fault, it isn't your responsiblity. I get all that.
I'm not mad at you personally. I'm not mad at your company. I'm mad a reality and a situation that your program's limitations, and queries reminded me of. The limitiations and exclusions I suffer regularly, that other disabled, poor, and/or unlucky people suffer every day were smashed in my face while I was tring to learn what your program does, and how it works, and whether or not it's something I could employ in my own creations.
I didn't assume anything. I looked up your company and there are a few artciles out th ere. There's a linked-in page. I appreciate your taking the time to respond. The e-mail would have worked, the window is still open.
Best Regards.

RE 2: Whatever: there ya go. Five stars! 2 bucks is 20% of my income, and .00-something-4 the 2.5 MILLION VC money you got to play with. Huzzah for you! Not your problem for sure, and it's neat that your litle company can do that. Not everone can. While bigotry and pettiness eat me live in Indiana because it's legal for bigots to financially curb stomp someone they don't like, or who has a lifetsyle or even an opion they don't agree with, keep dishing out your snark. I'm sure at least someone will find it funny and enjoyable. Heck, maybe another company or someone can get in a few rib kicks before I'm completely gone.
Original Title: Offensively Agressive with Limtis and Feedback Demands
Original Review: It's a real turn off when faced with contributing to something that doesn't nag, harass, or limit me vs something that does. Generosity, would go a LOOOOONG way here. How do I even know this would be something I'd even use with the limtiations you're choking the product out with? I'll pass. Thanks and all, but I can create my own generative devices witin Ableton, Reaper, Logic, Reaktor, VCV Rack, and more. Of all those mentioed, Reaper and VCV Rack are more likey to get my money. Make something people want to pay for, and some of us most definltely will. Stop wasting supporter money on "protecting," your "intellectual property." It's an impossible task and you're just peeing in the faces of those who DO give you money.
Very confusing
Response from developer
Hi. Sorry you found the app confusing, but it is a deep app and does reward perseverance! Over the past few weeks we have spend a huge amount of time updating and simplifying our manual and its structure, linking and terminology as well as improving our help pages - so I hope you might find them to be of help to you. We also have some videos that can help get you going... Best wishes.
Try it ... your mind will expand!
It can be as simple as opening it, selecting a preset and listening to ever changing ambient , electronic music... or you can dig into it’s deeper structure of tracks which compose using different strategies according to probabilistic sets of rules which control every musical parameter you can think of, a whole lot of sound design ( there’s a very capable modular synth built in ) and if you are into music technology there’s MIDI output and control of MIDI parameters too.
And ... not to mention some animation stuff and converting text phrases to music ... so I won’t.
Moving from the first step to the next can be a challenge, but the devs have been working hard over the past few years to continually update and refine. I think in 2020 it’s getting there.
My advice is to just get the basic subscription for a couple of months and start experimenting. The free version will let you hear the “kind of thing” Wotja” composes... but the limitations will end up confusing you.
Once you need a manual it’s all there on line in more detail than you expect! You can even move to the desktop if you want...when the overall iOS music production implementation eventually cracks you!
The devs are very responsive and very nice.
There is nothing like this out there... and believe me I’ve looked. Sure, sometimes the GUI feels a bit unwieldy, sometimes I wish there was more built in selections of useful rules and probability sets ( to get going more quickly ), but as I said things are developing ( thanks for the Pattern Editor! )
Other than hurting your mouth trying to say the name you have nothing to lose. Try it out. 😉
Ps the dev even reached out to make sure I could pronounce “Wotja” correctly! How’s that for support... and now I can! 😀
A gem
Generative/Modular/Expansive
Wotja can also be a very deep modular environment where you can edit every aspect of your music and sound parameters. The music engine is very adaptive with rules and settings that you can set for how each part plays. The sound engine is where you get your hands dirty building and editing your modular “synth” creations using sound/tone sources, FX units, controllers and routing junctions.
I don’t think I’ll ever get to explore all of Wotja’s features, but I do learn new things every day with the help of Intermorphic. Anytime I hit a wall, it gets knocked down pretty quick with explanations for those little things that aren’t readily apparent to me.
If you are brave enough to take the dive into Wotja’s vast generative and modular music environment, understand that you have a vast amount of control and there is probably a setting that you can tweak to make your creation sound just the way you want.
