  • Decent sampler

Won’t work in inter app audio mode on any of my devices, pretty big let down
  • Great app to create chops on the go!

Great app to quickly create chop packages to export to drum machine!
  • I like the app just have some questions

The app performs as advertised, it's just not as user friendly as I would have hoped.

For example I cannot for the life of me figure out how to switch from the virtual pads to the keyboard. There is no such anywhere I've looked and I can't find a useful tutorial online.

Developer, could you help me figure that out in exchange for this 5 star rating? I want to use my wired midi keyboard with the app.

Hi there. Thanks for your nice review. To switch to keyboard mode fist select a slice and then enable chromatic mode. Each slice can be played chromatically. As for wired midi I know it works with my keyboard. If it doesn't try routing the midi from anoyher app like AUM or Audiobus to Samplist's virtual port. Thanks again and enjoy using Samplist

The interface for editing sounds is good and the non-chromatic mode is the most useful at this point. It’s nice to be able to evenly split a sample into however many slices you want.

Works well in IAA, Audiobus 3, and standalone.

The area where I’d like to have more flexibility would be being able to manage files and slices more easily. If you create a slice manually and then delete it, your slices can get out of order. It’d be very nice to be able to name individual slices, and to put them in the order you want using drop and drag. The last slice in a sample can be problematic as the app frequently will prevent you from turning the last part of the sample into a playable slice.

It would be nice to be able to combine samples together and to be able to create marker tagged AIFF output files for use in apps like GaragageBand and Beatmaker 3 in addition to the current export of individual slice files.

  • Off to a good start

This a decent sampler and easy to use.I haven’t come across any problems.Well done!
  • UPDATED Unfinished

Excellent! All apparent issues resolved and more great features added!

Using this to create live drum, multilayer, sample sets for use in other apps. Quick and easy!

I ran into a problem not yet resolved but this is a tight, fast, app to create sample sets with.

I think my source file contains markers or other information that is confusing Samplist. The problem files were previously edited in BeatMaker 3 and originated in GarageBand.

You’ll find this developer very, very, kind and courteous.

I've replied to your email. I was asking you for the file that was causing you the issues. As of version 1.2.7 which you apparently have, there IS polyphony in chromatic mode and also in pads mode. Tempo preservation is not possible in Chromatic mode. The app functions fine on all the devices tested. There are hundreds of you who use it very differently. Me, I'm only one developer. You can't assume all the possible ways a user will use your app until you put it out there for people to use it. That's why I've asked you to send me the file you've used. And also, whenever a problem occurred I've updated almost daily the app. The app costs about 3 Starbucks coffees and you can always have the option to get a refund in 14 days. I would've appreciated if you replied my email and I would've been more than happy to test your audio file. Apparently it's easier to just drop a one star review on someone's 4 weeks work. PS: It's not a trend in audio apps. That's how the software business works. That's why there are patches, bug fixes. Anyway, thank you for your review and for purchasing the app.
  • Excellent start and more to come...

....this guy is doing what iOS still allows; seeing a spot for something that someone wants themselves and then that someone saying ‘dammit’ and going out and making it. A good machine that’s evolving quickly. Worth enjoying the app and supporting the developer.
  • Very useful app

I got to play with this app and I find it very useful. Keep the updates coming. ;)
  • Needs work

Concept is good, sound is terrible, SampleWiz or slicer. would be a much better choice for the price. ADSR needs work, chromatic playback probably sound better if able to turn off speed pitch correction, only monophonic. Wants like this app but needs work,

    Developer Response

Hey thanks for the review. But the main goal of the app is to slice drums. Pitch is there for pitching up drums. Chromatic mode is there as a “bonus” I’m currently working on a real polyphonic mode which should be up in the next version. Apparently people want to play melodic stuff with it. I’m going to display pads by default so it’s obvious it’s an MPC style sam
