Description of MTI RehearScore

Learn your music and run rehearsals right from your mobile device using the new RehearScore App! Sometimes, finding a rehearsal pianist that meets your budgeting and scheduling needs can be challenging. The new RehearScore® is a complete digital rendition of the Piano-Conductor Score, sequenced by a top Broadway accompanist, precisely the way the composer intended. Every musical number (including scene changes, dance music, and underscoring) is recorded in its entirety so you can rehearse even if you don’t have a pianist. ● Every cast member can have access to RehearScore® ○ Simply download the App right from the App Store to access your show! ● Conduct dance or choral rehearsals. ○ With the ability to change the tempo and loop a dance break, you can run multiple rehearsals at once without the need of a separate pianist or recording. ● Find the right key – transpositions are easy. ○ Adjust your songs into the key that best suits your performer. ● Isolate, increase, or remove any particular vocal line. ○ Because each singer’s part has been recorded on a separate track, it can be played back with or without accompaniment (or louder or softer, relative to the accompaniment). ● Click and jump to any measure. ○ Measure numbers match each individual score. ● Add cuts and vamps. ○ Edit the songs down to the specific cutting you need and find the perfect number of vamps you’ll need in each song. ● Save your changes. ○ After adjusting the songs, save your changes to distribute to your cast and crew. Reviews of MTI RehearScore

  • Has potential, but is currently pretty awful.

Our school used this app to rehearse for Beauty and the Beast. Our music director cut lots of small things throughout the show, which is a feature not possible while just listening to the Broadway versions of the songs and therefore is helpful. However, everything else is very terrible. More MIDI instruments instead of the same annoying piano sound for every part would work wonders (even if the digital instruments sound awful)! Vamps don’t work right and it always sounds like something broke every time somebody has to frantically rush over to their phone to move on. Also, why does the software stop when your phone turns off? This in combination with the vamps issue means that somebody has to always sit by the phone connected to the speaker in order for everything to work right. Your ringer also needs to be on for some reason. Receiving a text means the music completely stops for a good two seconds. Rhythm always sounds off; it feels clunky and low effort and really throws off the more musically inclined members of the cast. Finally, why is there no good way to see the lyrics while playing the music? I feel like that’s a given.

TL:DR - In theory, this app could be really good, but is extremely low effort and misses many features that should be no-brainers for an app of this kind. Doesn’t have much going for it.
  • App makes itself useless

I’m using this app for a community theatre production, and BOTH times I’ve downloaded it on two separate devices it just….stops playing sound. Everything looks like it’s working except no sound is being played which is the whole point of the app. Very frustrating. You can definitely see the lack of care.
  • Bad in a lot of places

Let me leave the app and have the sound play in the background. Also, why do a I have to have my phone not be on mute (silences typing sounds) for the backing track to be heard? Also, the vocals for Mean Girls are all empty. Also, the midi sound is really bad.
