Description of Flip X

Getting into reselling can be scary and intimidating. We want to help you get a jumpstart into your path to becoming a confident, and effective reseller. We know the hardest thing to figure out when reselling is "What should I buy this for?" and "Is this a good deal?". We make this super simple by creating recommend price points to buy any given item at based on how much margin, or risk you want. These recommended buying prices automatically factor in fees that eBay takes, as well as margins. We do this by searching your items on eBay then analyzing all of the data we get back to create an easy to understand, highly effective overview of market trends for any given product. We have world class charts that help you determine what the demand is for the product with a chart of how many example of your item have been listed in the last 4 weeks. In addition to that, we also show what percent of those listed items actually sold. We also showing rolling averages of what items are actually selling for. The last amazing chart that we have is a distribution chart the price of items sold. This can help identify at what price point most items are being sold at, without ever needing to even look at the listings. Speaking of listing, we have them too. We display, below the charts, all of the items that we analyzed so you can be confident in the numbers that we created, as well as making sure the item that you are searching matches closely with the products we are analyzing.

Reviews of Flip X

  • Great concept and layout - without functionality

Title says it all. I agree with the other reviewers I’ve read: “we want this app!” Just a version which works correctly and searches more marketplaces (which more closely mimics a resellers daily due diligence.)

    ***Kindly offered constructive criticism:***

    •UI: 7/10
    •UX: N/A (search is non-functional)
    •Design: 6.5/10
•Feel: a little canned and rinky-dinky which doesn’t fill a seller with confidence (improved graphics and UI will go a long way.)
•Revenue generated by: ads (if you get this running like it should this is a great candidate for a paid app. Ads cheapen your professional look, but I get it.)

    • Once in search mode the user feels trapped I suggest having a menu screen a swipe to the left of search screen and a about/contact/blog a swipe to the right or similar approach.

    • The marketplaces which are relevant to resellers have a ton of API available, maybe expand the scope of your apps capabilities? For example integrating a sellers listing templates so the research / purchasing / listing process can be streamlined through your app.

All and all guys you have a solid foundation here. I’d love to see you all get it going strong!

    I’ll keep an eye out
    Respectfully
    Peter
  • Great Concept Lacking Execution

Let me say I would pay good money for this app to work. Mostly I scan and it just loads forever. It should also check more than just ebay when comparing prices. I do like that it tells me what to buy it at but there should be more features. 1. Keep a log of all scanned. Sort them by most popular, most recent, etc. 2. Create an account and community around re sellers and flippers 3. Search quicker. This is bad
  • GREAT idea but lacking in major ways

I’ve been waiting for someone to do an eBay based version of the Amazon app, and while I was excited by the concept here, this app needs a LOT of work.

Search results came back with a “we’re sorry” error message many times. There are no UPC scanning capabilities (a MUST for any modern reselling app). The search results appear to gather ALL results for items regardless of which release a record album, for example, may be (also vital to most buyers as a Beatles Abbey Road LP May be worth less than ten bucks while other pressings are worth 30 or more DEPENDING ON WHICH RELEASE it may be. The app doesn’t take that into consideration at all, thus the return values are NOT fool proof in any way and in the case here, even the prices that showed as not being risky and safe to buy, would have lost money for some who weren’t more educated on record albums).

Again - love the concept but this app is miles away from others already out there . Giving two stars for the try and in hopes of improvements to come. I will check back to see but for now, I do not recommend this app.

    Developer Response

Hi Greg! Thank you very much for your feedback. We loved the ideas and criticisms that you gave and we worked hard to add them into our most recent update that was released today. We added some features such as a barcode scanner, improved search results, and drastically reducing the amount of time you will see the "We're sorry" message. On the note of having better results that are more reflective of the exact item you are looking at, this is a complicated issue to solve as it requires us to guess in most cases. We are working on finding better ways to allow users to be more specific with their searching, and that will likely be in the next couple of weeks. Generally, the more specific the search, the better the results will be. This is also why we include previews of all the listings that we gathered data from, to hopefully allow our users to see if the product they are looking at matches what we gathered. Again, thank you very much for your feedback, and we hope that you take another look at our app and let us know what you think!
