Case tracker, almost perfect

Thank you for the great review, I appreciate it... however, please get in touch with the little annoyances because the only way I know what annoys my users *specifically* is if they let me know! You can email me directly in the app via Settings -> Help & Support -> Email Support We can see if what annoys you is a bug or just something I've not implemented very well! Cheers, Paul
Fantastic log book

Thanks for the wonderful feedback and support. I’m busy working on improvements which will take advantage of iOS 15 later in the year to hopefully make it even better. 🤓
Phenomenal

Thank you for the great review, I really appreciate that you took the time to write it. I had considered adding a charting component but I decided against. There are others doing great work in this space and I couldn't do half the job they're doing. It would also increase the complexity of Somnus dramatically and troubleshooting would be a lot of work (there are a lot of hardware I/O complexities which are well above my skillset). I fear I'd make a meal of it! There is the ability to add 'Clinical Photos' to cases, which I do sometimes use to attach a screenshot or photo of the clinical record, but I don't do it for every case as it's a lot of data. If you print a 'Case Report' rather than a 'Billing Report' these images will be included in the PDF. As for Windows - I have no interest in this, for the same reasons I won't create an Android version - it's far too much extra work and the fragmented hardware ecosystem makes it difficult to maintain parity across devices, let alone platforms. I also am a pretty novice coder so I'd have to learn from scratch how to do it. That might make for a very ugly version of Somnus! Developing in iOS is 'easy' in comparison. I know where I stand with hardware capabilities, users are almost always on the latest iOS (or macOS) so I can make use of new technologies all while knowing that data is safe and the user experience is consistent. But thank you for the suggestions. I love the feedback and I'm always thinking of ways to make Somnus better - I use it every day for my private & public work which is where most of my ideas come from (usually when something annoys me!) Paul
This is what I’ve been looking for
This app would be great for people in training To track cases or establish clinicians like myself who need to keep track and enjoy keeping track of everything I do for my patients.
You won’t go wrong with this one. The Developer is a physician anesthesiologist himself and replies immediately with questions and answers. The great thing is you can guarantee he understands exactly what you’re looking for!

Thanks for the wonderful review, Mike, and thanks for using Somnus. I’m glad it makes your life easier - that was certainly the intention! Always open to new ideas and features (without feature bloat) provided it’s within my fairly simply coding skill set! Cheers from Australia, Paul
Versatile, SImple and Useful
It is easy to put data in, it syncs nicely across my I devices - so if I forget one, I can use the other seamlessly.
I can take clinical photos, or photograph the anaesthetic chart if I want and I can audit my logbook as I wish when I wish.
Had a problem with exporting files recently, so I emailed the developer and within 12 hours the bug was solved! Have never had support like that with an app before.
This is a must if you are an anaesthetist or anaesthetic trainee in Australasia and I imagine it would be pretty handy in other countries as well.
Nice work guys - this one is a winner.

Thanks very much for the review, I really appreciate it. The sign off ‘nice work guys’ was funny - it’s only me doing all this! 😂 I have not outsourced a thing nor have I used any custom APIs in my code. Doing it this way allows me to have full control over everything and be able to fix bugs & make improvements very quickly. The downside is that I might be slower adopting features that other apps have. I taught myself to code a few years ago with the aim of creating an app like Somnus for me and my colleagues. I use it every day, with almost 4000 Cases recorded so far. I love the feedback and I try to implement any reasonable suggestions as soon as I can. I also welcome bug reports, especially when we can work out the root cause. As we discovered, they can be obscure little creatures!
How an anaesthesia logbook should be done.

Thank you for the wonderful review. Kind regards, Paul.
Somnus is where it’s at!
I’ve been using digital anaesthetics logbooks for more than 10 years, and Somnus for the past 16 months. It is certainly the most user-friendly logbook for anaesthetics-related cases that I’ve come across in recent years. Somnus can also be modified with a number of user-defined fields & parameters, for example, to keep track of out-of-theatre cases such as aeromedical retrievals, ICU or ED cases, MRI or endoscopy suite cases.
The summary stats are very interesting to look back through, and the export function is perfect for providing a logbook summary to credentialing authorities when required. I have not needed to use the Medicare item number (billing) component so I can’t comment on its functionality.
Paul is also very responsive to suggestions for additional features or modifications, not to mention fixing bugs in a timely manner.

Thank you very much for the lovely review - this sort of feedback (and bug reports & suggestions) gives me a real boost and makes it all worthwhile!
Excellent app, great user interface, intelligent functionality
In a world where medical software seems to be written to make your clinical workload worse than ever, this app is a pleasant exception!
