Swingdose app shows swing events all over the world. It aggregates content from many google and teamup calendars, facebook events, and other websites.
You may choose to visualize events on the Map view for a selected day or in the monthly Calendar.
Events can be filtered both by type and style, although given a huge number of events (above 25000 now) these categories are sometimes not accurate.
This app is truly multipurpose. You can use it to find dance events in your town if you allow it to share your geolocation. Otherwise, starting from the current version, you may also set your preferred location manually.
When you travel, the app will search for dance events in your current location.
If you don’t speak the local language the app is designed in a way to provide you with the exact location of the event, the venue name, and date.
Time and price, as well as style and type of the event may be inaccurate as they depend on the way the organizer described it.
Moreover, there’s a google translate button under the event description! (The amount of translations per user is limited as this service is charged by Google.)
Otherwise, if you just wonder if there’s an event in this or that town worldwide, you can use the geo search in the left slide menu or simply drag the map to the place of your choice and push the “magnifying glass” button in the upper right corner.
You may also browse festivals in bigger a geographical region or worldwide by zooming out the map.
Simple events like parties or classes will not be shown in this “global” view as their number would be too big to display.
And the cherry on the cake, there’s a list of more than 60 swing, blues, and jazz radio stations in the app!
You can listen to your favorite music style while browsing swing events or in background ;)
If you like a song and the app is able to detect its title (which is not always available) you can add it to your favorites list and use google search by simply clicking on it.
No login is required to use the main features of Swingdose app.
However, if you create a profile (which takes less than 1 minute) you will be able to save your dance style settings, change the app language if needed, and save list of the songs that you liked on the radio. More features will be available soon for logged users.
If you are organizer, you can manage your events on the fly with the app! This is particularly convenient if you want to add an outdoor last-minute event, cancel or delete an already exiting one, or fix some details.
If the event is just canceled you can just change the event type to “cancelled” so the people don’t get lost in the information. You can always delete an event if it was created by error.
To post events, simply create an account and make a request to update it to Organizer profile.
Note that these requests will be treated manually so, please, provide the most explicit information about yourself or the organization that you represent.
You will be also granted access to your events added automatically by the system.
