The app does not work with the B10 Plus Profoto lights

I recently purchased the Profoto B10Plus Profoto lights and downloaded the app as instructed to register the product and purchase an extended warranty. However, when I tried to connect the app to the lights using my iPhone Plus or my iPad Pro, the app kept shutting down. This is particularly frustrating as Profoto is known as the leading provider of light equipment for photographers. I am currently finishing my associates degree in photography, so this issue is especially troubling.

Used to be great but crashes all the time now

When I first purchased my B10+ strobes this app was amazing and incredibly reliable. Now it rarely wants to connect to my strobes and constantly crashes as soon as I open up the app. Don’t know what went wrong but I do hope Profoto works on fixing this.

Incredibly difficult to use and disappointing

Just purchased a Profoto C1 Plus and went to set it up on this app as instructed by Profoto manual. When registering the product an update was available so I went to install and it crashed during the first 30 seconds of installing and my c1 plus is now unusable and stuck in recovery mode with a greyed out option to download and update the new firmware or to skip update which just makes it all go around in circles. Please fix these issues in the app so that it is more user friendly and works

Shuts down when I add a B10 plus

I downloaded the app signed in and the second I try to connect to a B10 plus the app kills itself. The app ends and goes to me Home Screen. Then I can’t open the app without it ending itself 3 seconds later. I’ve deleted the app and redownloaded it. Same thing happens.

A wonderful extension to the Connect Pro

I was thrilled that you’re able to not only connect the app to your lights (I use B10X Plus units), but you can simultaneously connect the app to your Connect Pro trigger.

This is extremely useful when using a light meter. No more removing/reattaching the trigger your camera. Also incredibly useful to turn on/off the modeling lights when you are at the scene and adjusting the light positions.

Being able to update firmware for strobes and the Connect Pro is also very handy.

Very easy-to-use and understandable interface.

Thrilled with ability to adjust power.

This may be known to a majority of users. I just discovered how to adjust the power level of multiple flash heads. Not just the 3 stops up or down. The actual power from .01 to 10. This is fantastic. Thank you Profoto…

Connect Pro for Leica M10 Monochrom

Still waiting for a firmware update for my Leica M10M to use TTL and HSS. It’s been six months owning this and maybe a year since it was announced. Luckily it triggers my 4- Profoto flash heads in manual mode.

Iwatch

It’s cool but I wish there could be an Iwatch version to control a si gel light through the watch instead

apple watch

I wish there was a remote for the apple watch!

Terrible update - June 2022

Profoto is the “it just works” lighting company. Unfortunately not anymore! The latest update to the Profoto Control app has REMOVED the ability to SEE the power setting of your lights in manual mode. MOST professionals start with Auto and then switch to Manual mode to adjust the settings of the lights. In the latest update to the app, (June 2022) we are working blind because the app only shows us changes in tenths of a stop WITHOUT showing us the final power setting of the lights. PLEASE Profoto put this function, to show the power setting of the lights in manual mode, BACK into the app like it was in previous versions of the Profoto Control app. This is the sort of negative change to a professional workflow that makes people switch brands. Seriously Profoto do better!

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback! We added ability to control flash power for individual group when you have Connect connected. When Connect and individual lights are all connected in parallel, you will not be able to control individual lights directly, but just via Connect instead (group-centric control). If you want to control individual lights and see absolute flash power values for each light, just disconnect Connect from your app. Let us know how it goes (hello@profoto.com), And thanks for reconsidering your app rating, Many thanks, Marko.
