It is also called a drum or a sheave. The groove is important because it helps to keep the rope in place. It is used to lift up or lower heavy objects. With a pulley, an object to be lifted can be tied to one end of the rope, and a force is applied to the other end by pulling the rope downwards. The downward force turns the wheel with the rope and pulls the load upwards at the other end. it designed to support movement and change of direction of a taut cable or belt, or transfer of power between the shaft and cable or belt. In the case of a pulley supported by a frame or shell that does not transfer power to a shaft, but is used to guide the cable or exert a force, the supporting shell is called a block, and the pulley may be called a sheave. A pulley may have a groove or grooves between flanges around its circumference to locate the cable or belt. The drive element of a pulley system can be a rope, cable, belt, or chain. • Perfect, but only metric units

This is an ideal app for simple speed calculations. I volunteer with antique equipment association where we commonly use flat belt equipment. There is a frequent need to do speed calculations for machinery.

My only complaint is that all units are in metric. Shouldn’t make a difference for speeds, but belt speed isn’t useable without conversions. Wish there was a toggle to convert to imperial measurements
