5.1 vs 4.6
Master Fader 5.1 is more responsive vs 4.6
I. Love the new improved effect engine , send return effect for auxes. The only thing that would be nice to have an update is ability of using 32 bit version for older devices that doesn’t use 64 bit.
I have been using DL32r for over 3 years no problem so far except I could use play/record function. With this new update I hope to use it.

Should have read the reviews
I’ve been a master fader user since the very first release on my old 1608, so when I saw there was a new version I didn’t think twice about updating my 32r. After updating the iPad I updated my dl32r. Things went pretty smooth until I tried to run the app on my new iPhone, once I selected the device it hung my new phone (first app to crash my iPhone 11). Next I tried my second iPad, the app installed, but when it tried to update my MF4 shows it jumped back to the iPad home screen. After taking it to my next gig, I was glad it failed to update my MF4 shows, because I was able to reuse the shows once I reverted back to MF4 after my second iPad would not connect to the mixer, and my primary iPad would randomly disconnect. I really wish I would have read the reviews before installing MF5, it would have saved me a stressful Pre show downgrade. The extra effects aren’t worth the unstable operation and crashes. You will also loose the ability to make reverb changes in the channel mode.

Love the DL16s, master fader 5 too buggy still.
Such a shame that Master Fader 5 app is still buggy even after 5.1... the faders are almost unusable in a quick scenario, as they jump. I’ve been using master fader for years, and it’s a major noticeable issue. You have to almost hold the fader for a second or two before moving it, otherwise (unless your smack bang in the middle of it) it jumps. Live, this is unacceptable. SUCH A SHAME! Otherwise this would be 5*

iPad Air 3rd gen
Having issues with mackie master fader 5.1 app with the dL 1608 mackie mixer. App keeps dropping while performing and app is also freezing up. Are there updates for app or firm ware updates for dl1608.
Faders jumpy. Almost unusable!
On both iOS and windows versions, the faders on this new app behave differently from its predecessors. If you do not tap precisely in the middle of the fader button, the fader jumps to the position of your finger as soon as you move. This can be severe, giving an immediate stark increase or decrease in volume!! I am a long time user of this app and hardware, owning DL 16S, DL1608, and DL32R units, but this problem means I will have to rethink this if it is not fixed soon, as it makes it difficult at best to use in any kind of professional sound situation. Please, please correct this so that I can continue to use my favourite app.

Not useable
App crashes as soon as its connected to the device.
Frustrated
I had to do a forced update on my dl32r the other day and so I updated all my iOS devised to MF5. BIG mistake. I now can’t connect to two of my iPads, and my musicians can no longer use their phones to run their own mix. The app now crashes every time it is opened! Please fix this!!
Seriously disappointing “upgrade”
This is not a terrible app, but this review is from the experience of upgrading from Master Fader 4, as many people will do. I think this may be one of the most disappointing software updates I’ve ever experienced. I’ve found very little that’s significantly better than v4 and several very serious regressions in functionality and stability.
1. The app consistently crashes on every iPhone my band has tried - at least 5 different devices. It also crashes on iPads running iOS 11 and 12, and no longer supports iOS 10 at all. The crash happens upon selecting the mixer to connect to. Half the devices we used specifically for mixing at gigs are now useless.
2. Fader behavior has become horribly imprecise. Depending on where you initially touch the fader, it may jump to an unintended position when you let it go. In v4 the faders would accurately track you finger movement and stay where you let it go, no matter where you touched it. I can’t believe such an important function was made so much worse.
3. Version 4 of the app supported split screen and I have been depending on that feature for years, now version 5 doesn’t support split screen at all. Because of this huge regression in functionality I now have to use two devices or deal with constant full-screen app swapping throughout performances.
We (in my band) have yet to find any significant benefit to version 5 of the app; certainly nothing that’s worth these sacrifices. Upgrades are supposed to work better and give you more features, obviously, not get worse and take things away. We’re going to be trying to force a firmware update to install version 4 because version 5 is a big step down.

Unreliable
Not sure why we needed an entire new app for what looks like just cosmetic upgrades. For the second time in a row, the app froze in the middle of a live show and my recording through the app got cut off. This never happened with version 4 unless it was an actual physical disconnect from the mixer. The worst part is it doesn’t even alert you that something happened, just silently fails.

A little glitchy
Version 4 was pretty solid. Just upgraded to version 5 yesterday & there are a few glitches in the software. The faders jump when you touch to move them & getting a quick level spike on the FX 1 & IPad channels when not in use. Other than that it is a good upgrade.
