  • Not responding correctly

F@@ked off with the app and the makers of the droid. Didn’t work. Have chased multiple times for replacement parts with no response. Over £1000 spent on something that didn’t work. Don’t do it
  • What happened?

I thought there was gonna be a automised mode?
  • Disappointing

Complete lack of obvious instructions - frustrating.
  • Let down

Paid out all this money get snapped wires still waiting for an issue won’t connect and only get one light working no movement save your cash and buy one from Sphero
  • Very good.

All in all it’s great. I had to take it apart to replace the left leg motor cable as some how I screwed through the original! Now the camera doesn’t work as it looks like when I was taking it apart I snapped the thin black cable so I now need to replace that.
One thing I don’t understand though is that I have updated the app on my iPhone but I don’t get the options to talk, open arms, play holograms, dance etc. I only get the standard move and spin head. On my iPad I get all options. Why is this ?

  • 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Lots of niggles...
head not spinning in one smooth motion instead It judders.
    Voice control 😂 yeah right.
Patrol mode 🤔 yeah maybe in a large empty warehouse with no obstacles.
Basically needs a lot of bug fixes
  • No instructions no connection

Failure out of the box. It’s not intuitive or smart to get started. Then a lack of instructions... I’m unable to actually use the device and now I have to waste time researching to figure out how to simply connect/pair the app to the R2 unit

    Disappointing
  • It’s alive ITS ALIVE 🤯🤯

He he. All good. Took 2 years to build with very intricate parts at certain stages. All in all the build quality is superb, provided you take time and triple check things as you go along all should end how expected.
The app itself is great and connects as expected.
My only bug bear is that there isn’t a smoother movement for the head and movement of the body controlled by the app.
Also it would be nice if there was a volume control.
And one last point, I’m sure it was advertised or mentioned somewhere that R2-D2 had the ability to record and then project through the projector. ?? If not. No biggie. I’m happy 👍

  • It’s alive !

Well after a 2 year build the app has finally arrived and all I can say is I’m not disappointed. It works exactly as it should and so does my R2 D2 (amazingly enough!) the image quality of the image and video clips is average at best. But it does work and responds very well. Voice recognition is very hit and miss, but it’s early days yet. Also I don’t get any sound with video clips, this may be normal, can’t find out at the moment. I’m sure with a few app updates in the future, things will be ironed out even more, but for now so far so good.
