Description of WristRoute

WristRoute is a standalone Apple Watch GPS application for hiking, biking, and other offline activities. Neither the iPhone nor Internet is needed for operation. WristRoute can read and write GPX files containing waypoints, routes, and tracks. Download a GPX file for an upcoming hike, load it on your watch, and now you can follow the route line on a map, or track your uphill progress against an elevation profile. WristRoute uses the latest generation of topographic maps from the USGS: US Topo. Outside the continental United States an OpenStreetMap derived map is used. Maps are cached for offline use. WristRoute is designed for all day use with battery saving options. GPS Battery Saver turns on the GPS only as needed. Map display can also be turned off, displaying just GPX route lines and waypoints.

Reviews of WristRoute

  • Waste of Time

App has locked up on my IPhone 11 and is stuck at a screen wanting to update my new Apple phone. Zero help and NO Refund!!!!
  • Incredibly Powerful Tool

This app is amazing, I tried the free version then quickly upgraded to the paid version to get the full feature set. Transferring GPX files from my computer to add waypoints and routes was very easy! Please keep the updates coming, I love that you have been constantly improving little things about the UX here and there!

I also have a suggestion: I use this for tracking where I am on a sandbar that I am surfing over to know when I have drifted too far from the optimal location. It would be awesome if I could click into ‘Heading’ once I have the waypoint set, and then enter the watchOS ‘water lock’ mode and still be able to keep the app/compass heading screen open (not always active, but still open when I turn my wrist over after several minutes of paddling). Sometimes I find the water has accidentally clicked the heading back to the Home Screen. I have used other surfing-specific apps that will automatically enter water lock mode after you start a session and then turn your wrist away from you so that when you hit the water it won’t start pressing random buttons. Something like that would be amazing! Keep up the good work!
  • Great Stand Alone Topo map for watch

Been looking for an App just like this one for Apple Watch SE. This App is way under advertised as I hadn’t heard of it when searching for a standalone Topo map for the watch. This app does exactly what I was looking for and does what I need. If you are needing a stand-alone USGS Topo map that will show your location on a map, add waypoints(can route also to waypoint)and tracks, this is the app you need. You can also save maps for offline use.
Just a great app that is perfect for navigating on a watch.
    Great Job on development!!!!!!!!!!
